The squadron was introduced to the King and Queen of England when they were given their for destroying the Rurh dams, and each man got a personal thanks from the Queen. All the British flyers bowed to the Queen, of course, but after she thanked Joe for his service, she said, “You need not bow; simply turn and walk away.”
