Hold on dere, Hoss. Sarah gonna come aflyin' outta that there igloo she lives in and whap you upside da haid wiff her skillit.
Alaska has been one of the mostest educated States in this here Union. Usually in the top three. Except for post-graduate degrees it kicks the crap out of Ol' Virginny. Pluck out a county or two in Northern Virginia and them ice-bound hillbillies will take you to school in their Lear Jet. Them bar wrasslers is a crafty bunch. Jess don't you piedmont crackers git in no poker game with 'em. Or no spellin' bees.
Coming from isolated southwestern Virginia myself (NOT northern Virginia, but Appalachia), with some of the same cultural traits, demographics, (and problems) as Alaska, I am not putting those fine folks down. In fact, I identify quite closely with them. But I am saying that because of Alaska's size, climate, and scattered population centers, as well as its heavily blue collar industries, the state HAS to support education there and not rely solely on homeschooling, as many militant homeschoolers on this forum demand. That's all.
