GOP set to launch rebranding effort
CNN ^ | April 29, 2009 | John King

Coming soon to a battleground state near you: a new effort to revive the image of the Republican Party and to counter President Obama's characterization of Republicans as "the party of 'no.'"

CNN has learned that the new initiative, called the National Council for a New America, will be announced Thursday.

It will involve an outreach by an interesting mix of GOP officials... [John McCain and Jeb Bush].

In addition to Sen. McCain and Gov. Bush, GOP sources familiar with the plans tell CNN others involved in the new group's "National Panel Of Experts" will include: [Barbour, Jindal and Romney]

It will report to GOP congressional leaders, and among those signing the announcement that will be made public Thursday are:...[Boehner, Cantor, Pence, McConnell, Kyl, Thune, and Alexander]

"However, this is not a Republican-only forum," reads the letter announcing the new effort, a copy of which was obtained by CNN from Republican sources involved in the effort. "While we will be guided by our principles of freedom and security, we will seek to include more than just our ideas.

"This forum will include a wide open policy debate that every American can feel free to participate in," the announcement letter reads. "We do this not just to offer an alternative point of view or to be disagreeable. Instead, we want to ask the American people what their hopes and dreams are. Since January, the President and the Democratic Majority in Congress have - rightfully so - put forward their plan for the future, now we must listen, learn and lead through an honest, open conversation with the American people that will result in building policy proposals that will yield the best results for our nation's long-term success."

The problem is spin don’t work on this here puppy.

You call me puppy? Careful there little girl... I'm old enough to be your father.

the answer about Putin rearing his head

... one of the best answers given on foreign policy by a current politician. Finally someone stating the truth about that warmongering, bloodthirsty KGB madman in Moscow.

What's your problem with Gov Palin's statement on Red Vlad?

Maybe you have a special liking for him?

What do you like best about Putin? The support for the islamic terrorists and tyrants in Iran, Syria and Lebanon? The war against Georgia? The blackmailing of Ukraine and Poland?

I remember the Clinton years too well, and I don’t like the tactic not one bit!!!!

So you like it?

“How much elbow grease do you have in the game?”

LOL, well, let’s just say I have enough in the game to know that I will never support a McCain or a Romney...ever. Actually, I am not even sure I am still a Republican.

If capitulation, going left and compromising the true conservative ideology of the party is Republican, well, you can count me out. McCain is just another left leaning loon. He lost the bid for the White House because people couldn’t tell a difference between him and his younger dem opponent.

You obviously don’t like Palin...the reason is your own. But, to say she is ignorant, and all of the other smears the left hit her with in the campaign, just doesn’t put you in the best light. Reason being....there are a lot of conservatives that do like her and you are only furthering the animosity between the various factions of the Republican party.

As for me, flame away, I could care less. Hate any and everyone you want. The Republican Party that you desire means nothing to me.

But, I will give you one warning. Palin at least kept McCain in the game. Yeah, we lost but this country is still pretty much split down the middle ideologically. Without Palin, McCain would not have done nearly as well...the internal numbers prove it. Go ahead and push the centrists and leftists of the Republican Party. But you know what, without me and millions like me (conservatives)...the Republican party is over with.

I guess according to your view then Palin was puttin Putin in his place by saying he was rearing his head? That’s very interesting. It just goes to show you there are always two sides to every story.

It shows that there are those who see the enemy, and those who are blind.

I never thought of that i.e Palin was pointing that out by saying that Putin was rearing his head. Thanks for the translation. That puts Palin in a different light. Of course Putin is the enemy. I didn’t realize that the deep meaning of the statement is what got the liberal presses pants in a bunch. But with that crew, you never know, so it is a possibility!
