When conservative talk-radio icon Rush Limbaugh decided to record a series of public service announcements for the Humane Society of the United States, many animal lovers on both sides of the political aisle applauded.
After all, the topics Limbaugh spoke about in the PSAs, like opposing dogfighting, hardly seemed controversial. "Opposition to cruelty and the embrace of the human-animal bond are universal values," Humane Society president Wayne Pacelle wrote, adding that his group's aims were "in step with those of all good people" regardless of political affiliation.
But a coalition of 28 hunters' rights groups are furious with Limbaugh for aiding and abetting the group that, as U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance president Bud Pidgeon puts it, "is the number one opponent of sportsmen in America today." The groups, which include the Sportsmen's Alliance and Ducks Unlimited, fired off an angry missive to Limbaugh calling on him to sever all ties with the Humane Society.

We must not let them get away with this. The Second Amendment is about providing the citizens with the tools to confront tyranny.
Bud PIDGEON?
That’s true, the 2nd has nothing to do with hunting bans or regulations. Or even the right to keep and arm bears.
You mean the 2nd Amendment isn’t about indiscriminately killing animals for fun but meant as a check on tyrannical government?
True. But seems to me th eHumane Society is a leftist outfit. Rush should know better.
The Humane Society is a good organization. I applaud Rush’s actions on this one.
No, they aren’t.
I think this is just drive by media spin.
To make the jump from supporting the humane society to supporting a hunting ban is quite a leap.
Nobody speaks for the dogs and cats except the lefties? What an odd situation.
I’m on Rush’s side on this one (as is usually the case).
If the Humane Society confined themselves to that, it’d be one thing. It ain’t
Actually several years ago he addressed the NRA and they gave him a rather nice O/U shotgun (Pre- 911).
He went into great detail one day about the difficulty that he had in transporting it back home because of certain federal laws.
Okay.
I am somewhat surprised that he did this PSA.
I do not recall Rush ever saying anything about guns. I listen as much I can and nothing specifically about guns do I remember on his show.
IMHO, you’re all correct.
Some Humane Societies are good; some are bad. A lot depends on where you live and who runs it.

Thats good. Real good.
Its never been a big subject on his show as far as I can tell and I don’t recall him ever talking about his use of a gun.
