Considering the interesting genetic cocktail this strain consists of, the tinfoil hatter in me thinks we might not wanna go all Janet Napolitano and blame Mexico just yet :)

Research using computer simulation models suggest that closing the borders would not contain the virus, and actually wouldn't even slow it down very much. It's already here in the States. All it takes is 50 people infected in one part of the U.S. and it can spread to half the population in a month, according to one computer simulation I saw of a similar type of virus.

Other than a vaccine (which won't be ready for another 6 months or so), the things that seem to work are Tamiflu (or similar antivirals) and social distancing (closing schools, public events, etc) as they are already doing in Mexico. If you have kids get prepared to have them home for awhile as this potentially heats up over the next week or two. I have a feeling that most schools will end up shutting down early this year.
