It’s like I tell my kids — when you took your shower this morning you were at more risk of death than pretty much anything else you could do today except maybe walking in front of a bus! LOL [Based on statistics of fatal bathroom accidents - worse than driving, flying, diseases, etc...]

I agree with you re the name - not just confusion, but as you said, the more important risk is that people don’t take it serious enough because they think it’s the “normal” swine flu. Lots of FReepers aren’t taking it serious, and I consider us to be a smarter-than-average crowd.
A FReeper pointed out that previous pandemics were named for their location of origin, such as the 1918 Spanish Flu. But I think it’s safe to say that political correctness will prevent this one from being called the Mexican Flu. Sigh.
No, I think I was quite clear this time when I said I was questioning why there was a huge discrepancy in the numbers. I offered three possible explanations, and one of those was media hype.
