“The US Constitution explicitly grants each senator a six-year term, and no state has the right to terminate a senator before his time is up.

A few years ago, the Supreme Court struck down state laws imposing term limits on members of the House of Representatives. A similar logic applies to attempts by states to alter senatorial terms. Any effort to recall any senator is unconstitutional.”

In 1967 there was an unsuccessful attempt to recall Senator Frank Church of Idaho. The courts ruled that federal elected officials are not subject to state recall laws and there is no federal recall law on the books.
