Congressman Paul gives his perspective on the swine flu issue.
thanks for posting. common sense.
of course he’s right but I think he is missing something. The idea isn’t to turn the system over to the nation. At least you would still have some control (as much control as you have over congress and the senate but it’s something). The goal however is to turn it over to the international community. This problem, like so many others recently, is a problem that is global in nature and as such requires a global solution.
Cue the international community...
But it’s so much more fun to get all worked up and scared. Government gets more of their foot in the door, more newspapers are sold, and Katie Couric get to hyperventilate.
People line up at the US-Mexico border crossing in Tijuana, Mexico, Monday, April 27, 2009. President Barack Obama declared Monday that spreading swine flu infections were a concern but 'not a cause for alarm,' while customs agents began checking people coming into the United States by land and air.

The swineflu issue has quickly become its own overwhelming topic with new, never before seen keywords generated almost daily. Since the focus of my daily ping has, and will continue to be anti-immigration topics and immigration reform, as of tomorrow I will stop including the swineflu topic in my ping. Together, the two are overwhelming. While somewhat related, the potential epidemic is not really off topic.

I'm sure the Bushies, who seem to like being under the Obama boot, will be on shortly with some snide remarks.
Can i be added to your ping list
Certainly. Welcome aboard. Keep in mind the topic is anti-immigration/immigration reform and will not include the swineflu topic. We do weekday a.m. updates of most recent immigration threads, plus updates during the course of the day, when applicable. bcsco
during a short mexibug segment on CNBC just now the reporter said that the pig farm in messico where this all started is US-Mexican owned.......first time I’ve heard this about any US ownership.
As far as snide [and ad hominem] remarks go, yours are on display, "responding" to imagined daemons.
Giving this front-loaded, chip-on-his-shoulder critic a wide berth seems advisable.

Thanks for all the links!
There's an error in the above message. The last sentence contains "the potential epidemic is not really off topic". I actually meant to say it is off topic. That's what happens when editing out some words and not correcting others gets in your way...
I found four new keywords relating to the swineflu issue this morning. Yet within the past 24 hours, enough such threads were added to the keywords I already follow to make this a.m.'s post as large as Monday's (which picks up after not posting over the weekend).
I made the decision that while the swineflu issue may stem from Mexico, and have implications for illegal entry into the US, it is really an issue in-and-of itself. Thus, I decided to cut such threads from future posts. I really want to concentrate on the immigration issue and not get sidetracked.

Can’t view You Tube at work - can anyone summarize? Thanks.
Thanks for your outstanding work BC. I read all your pings. ~ fla
I’m wondering how many clocks the good Doctor owns. His seems to be “stopping” on the correct time an awful lot lately.
I offer this note for consideration.
This note I got from a virologist friendretired from USAMRIID. There are reasons to worry. According to one CDC report, the strain that is passing around contains genes from four different strains; two swine strains, one bird strain and one human strain. Obviously a case of multiple infections in a host (could be either swine or human) and gene re-assortment to provide this strain. The H5 N1 avian strain that all were worried about these last several years would require at least 8 mutations or re-assortments. It appears to be a milder infection then previous epidemics (or pandemics), but with repeated human to human transmission, it easily could gain more virulence. Sorry to add to your worry.
Thank you for your kind works...
