First thing this poster wondered, was whether some rich left coast Obama donor film someone, was the one taking the pictures.

For a movie, of some sort.

Would be interesting, if it turns out there was some sort of quid-pro-quo.

Much as I don’t like Obama, I think you’re barking up the wrong tree here guys.

Most photo shots like this are phased in with actual training missions. For example, the 747 (VC-25 in AF lingo)could be sccheduled for regular crew training, like going up to McGuire AFB in nearby New Jersey, really just a few flying minutes from Washington, for practice instrument approaches. It’s just a few minutes deviation from flight path to go over to the Newark area for shots at the Statue of Liberty.

And for all we know, the F-16s could be on training missions for escort practice of AF One or for practice intercepts of hijacked airliners. It’s not as easy as the movies make it out. You need to meet certain appraoch parameters and positioning procedures, and pass on certain signals to the intercepted aircraft to get them to turn, depart the area, land, or blow them up. Or check to see if the aircraft is in distress.

Pilots and crew do have to train in these planes and missions, and you necessarily have to fly. Because you multitask and do several things at once doesn’t mean you’re wasting fuel and money. Even missions like flybys for funerals are usually worked into a normal trainging flight on the way back from a practice area.

These flights today were cleared by the FAA and the NYPD. Blame them as much as the Air Force for not getting the word out to the public.

Obama is a buffoon and is spending us into the poorhouse, but he gets a break on this one.

In May of 2001, I returned to upstate NY with my son for my father's funeral. Landed in Newark and drove north. Around the Meadowlands we could see the Trade Towers.

A week later I took a day trip with my brother and son down to the City, touring the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings, the Battery and Liberty and Ellis Islands. Didn't go to the TT though but it was there in all it's splendor and in the late afternoon we were in it's shadow heading off the subway. Had to catch the train back north after a snack at the Oyster Bar in Grand Central...a family tradition.

Back home and a few months later, the TV auto set alarm woke me at 0430 as usual....but not as usual. It was September 11th. Everything played out on the TV news services before my astonished eyes. Woke my son and we watched...the panic, the horror, the heroism of NYPD and NYFD. Then it was gone. And the shadows of the Trade Towers never set again on the Battery.

It took two days to get phone contact with relatives back east.

They didn’t tell the public on purpose. If they had given prior notice and explanation people would have been furious about spending big bucks on a photo-op that could have been easily done with Photoshop.

I doubt they need practice flying at low altitudes of 1000 ft over the Manhattan skyline. This was inexcusable. If they wanted to practice, then they had a whole frikkin Atlantic ocean to do their "practice manuveurs". No, the frikking narcissistist 0booooombi wanted to get his jollies out of AF One doing fly by's on the Manhattan skyline. Only after the shiite hit the fan, did 0booooombi reverse course and have Louis Caldera throw himself on a sword and take one to cover for 0booooombi.

Plus why the secrecy of telling the few select local officials to keep quiet on this???

No, my gut feel tells me that 0booooombi was paying off some political favors to a few of his favorite political hacks OR to his ugly man-beast wife Michelle, by letting them take AF One for a joy ride buzzing over Manhattan!!! 0boooombi is lying POS who is so full of himself that he failed (as always) like an idiot to see the ramifications for such a fool hardy stunt.

Thanks for the research. Flying over Mount Rushmore is pretty tame for a photo op. Swooping through Manhattan in a 747 jumbo jet after we had 9/11 is unthinkable.
