Cantor, Obama let sparks fly
Politico.com ^ | 4/27/2009 | PATRICK O'CONNOR

At the White House meeting — Cantor was the last of the Republican leaders to arrive — Obama brought up the letter and noted that not a single House Republican had backed his economic stimulus bill. According to a firsthand account of the meeting, Cantor took exception: “With all due respect, Mr. President, we offered you ideas on the stimulus plan directly, and they were ignored completely.”

Cantor suggested that if he were to view the stimulus negotiations through a partisan lens, he would argue Democrats started the “party of no” name-calling about the same time that Obama was meeting with House Republicans to discuss the stimulus plan.

I find it amazing how people are brainwashed by the very media they pretend to despise. You bought every word printed in that article and used it to bash republicans. You laugh at liberals for being “useful idiots” and yet here you are buying Political’s line hook, line and sinker.

Why is it that when Republicans hold the White House AND Congress, there is a determined effort by the President to act on behalf of all Americans. But, when there is Democrat control of the WH and Congress, there isn’t the least attempt to represent the many Americans who aren’t leftists. There isn’t “reaching out”, only lecturing criticism of those who won’t “go along”. Republicans and conservatives in general need to get this. It’s been the nature of the Dems since the late 60s. Bush and McCain acted like the other side is somewhat reasonable and honorable—they sacrificed a free nation to such naivete.

Obama pointedly reminded Cantor that he was the president

His "I WON" mentality cannot be abridged. There are no words in the dictionary to describe 0bama's narcissistic arrogance.

Brainwashed? If you think these Republicans are serving us well, then who is brainwashed? They’re having their asses handed to them. I don’t defend them.

“Obama asked Cantor to present him with a list of places where the federal government could save more money. The self-described conservative eagerly agreed.”

Obviously a trap from which the Communist-in-chief will shamelessly demogogue. The issue is not nickel and dime budget item savings, but wholesale cuts to entitlement programs that the Rats use to buy votes. The TOTUS will never ever consider those programs in play for cuts.

Obama pointedly reminded Cantor that he was the president — and that he reserves the right to disagree with whatever cuts the Republican whip recommends.

What an arrogant tool.

I love that book - read it years ago — but agree with you that it doesn’t apply to the left’s infantile inability to understand another point of view.

Of course you don't and that's why they are having their asses handed to them. They know and the DEMOCRATS know that you won't stand behind them if they stick their necks out. At the first sign of trouble you retreat and join the other side.

Are you kiddin’ me? They have been ELECTED! Now, they need to act like it. If they would “stick their necks out”, we'd all be behind them.

Does the term “carpet chewer” ring any bells?

In Jayne's view, and to me it's obvious, the consciousness that appeared out of the Greek experience is the struggle (and ability)of the individual to look objectively at the entire envelope of associations and ramifications of his own and others' actions. As opposed to the bicameral mind which is incapable of this, but rather acts from a simple authoritarian, top-down motivation. The latter of which is my own definition of Leftism.

The nascent human consciousness is clearly the foundation for Greek theatre, philosophy, and science. How obvious is it that the theatre was a detached objectified struggle to understand the human condition? The same for philosophy, Plato, Aristotle, et al. And even the great art.

A good counter example is the terrorist bicameral societies of the ancient middle east, like the Assyrians, motivating society through fear and domination.

Not that the human race across the board has to date successfully transformed to a community of higher individual consciousness. Indeed even in modern history we vacillate between the abyss of collective authoritarianism, and the emancipation of individual dignity.

One good literary example is GBS's Man and Superman where the race has reached the point it does not need top-down government because of the greater sense of responsibility, or consciousness, in the individual.

Once pointed out, the common human theme of individual awareness (truth?) as opposed to top-down oppression appears over and over in classic literature, e.g. The New Testament, Shakespeare, Wells, Paine, many more.

Incidentally the Bicamerals hate the Conscious, primarily because they do not understand.

No you wouldn’t. You’ve abandoned ship on them so many times they can and won’t trust you anymore. Just like this time. Cantor is trying to get something accomplished and you cut him off at the knees because of how he’s going about it. You fall for some article in Politico and instantly begin to trash him.

Johnnie...did you read the book? That part of the Bi-cameral mind which listens to the voice of God or the Gods is in no way related to leftism.

Still not sure what your point is...And where did you get this stuff from...

A good counter example is the terrorist bicameral societies of the ancient middle east, like the Assyrians, motivating society through fear and domination.

Not sure what you are drinking or smoking, but it is impolite not to offer some to the rest of us.

You don't know that because the entire matter of the bicameral mind is a frikken theory and an ancient one at that.

Please try to build a foundation here. Some of us have read and thought about this stuff. We appreciate your input but for God's sake...give it some thought!

Did Cantor show up to a budget meeting with the President and not have his own budget in his hand?

Yes or no?

I don’t know because we’re only told it was a “budget meeting” by Politico. For all we know it was just a meeting and he took the opportunity to discuss the fact that they weren’t consulted on the budget.

He’s only the President, not the king!

His arrogance is unlimited.

Even in his remarks today about the flyover of NYC—no apology—just a smirk, like he was putting something over on us.

I am convinced he was lying today.
