Just duh wondering . . .

Did Caesar write down on his passport that he was born 100 B.C. ?

Kinda always wondered about that.

Actually there is a bit of a debate about when Caesar was born. Both the biography by Suetonius and the one by Plutarch are missing the opening chapters which would presumably have given his year of birth by naming the consuls of that year, but Suetonius says that he was in his fifty-sixth year when he died (in chapter 88 of the Life). His birthday was definitely in July--that's why that month was renamed in his honor.

Normally a Roman was supposed to be at least 42 when he became consul, so some have argued that Caesar must have been born in 102 since he was consul for the first time in 59 B.C., but there may have been a rule that patricians could hold the office two years early.
