They keep voting Democrat, then complain about the results...

The second problem is they did not differentiate between South Asians (Pakistanis and Saudis and Iraqis) and East Asians.
The patterns are going to be different. One detailed study I saw indicated that Philippinos voted Republican. Hard to tell how Japanese-Americans in the 48 voted because they no longer live in concentrated areas but are "assimilated". Most Chinese are equally assimilated and difficult to track with any sort of statistically meaningful survey.
The answer is no one really knows how Asian-Americans as a group are voting, but Fur Shur the ones getting booted out of UC's school system are East Asians. If they weren't voting Republican before they will be now.
Excellent point. With the possible exception of the Vietnamese, most Asians (Chinese and Indians in particular) tend to vote Drats as do Middle-Easterners.
Michigan Proposal 2: Rejecting claims that Asian Americans are hurt by affirmative action programs, three in four Asian American voters voted No to Proposal 2, which seeks to end race- and gender-based affirmative action programs in education, hiring, contracting, and health initiatives. More than 300 Asian American votersincluding Arab Americansparticipated in AALDEFs exit poll survey in Michigan . Proposal 2 passed by a wide margin, 58% to 42% .
In other words, they are defining the Muzzies in Michigan the same way the British define them (Asians) rather than the way our census bureau defines them (Caucasian unless they are from Indonesia, Malaysia and points east, in which case the become Asian).
