Union activist appointed to Labor Department

President Barack Obama has appointed a key union activist as senior adviser to Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, another sign of the influence that organized labor wields in the Obama administration.

Mary Beth Maxwell spent the past five years as executive director of American Rights at Work, a nonprofit group pushing for passage of a bill to make it easier to form unions.

At the Labor Department, Maxwell will serve as a liaison to the White House Task Force on Middle Class Working Families, a group charged with raising the living standards of middle-class families by improving labor standards, boosting workplace safety and protecting retirement security.

Democratic leaders in Congress hope to bring some version of the Employee Free Choice Act to a vote this summer. Democrats are trying to rally enough votes to overcome an expected GOP filibuster.

Well that makes perfect sense.

The Department of Labor was simply created to give taxpayer provided office space to the fourth branch of government...the unions....nothing else.

In the 70’s I had business with the DOL in WDC on several occasions. Even then every position of consequence was filled by former union officials. The unions have run Labor in this manner for many years.

It already is pretty easy to form a union. All someone has to do is get a majority of employees to accept it. What could be easier and fairer than that? Card-check intimidation shows how undemocratic unionization could be.

Does anyone know anything about Maxwell’s background? If so, you can send it to me.

Bonior is a red, a marxist so anyone working for him has to be at least pink.

Also, the AFLCIO has several CPUSA members and supporters in its key positions and there is a possibility that they will take it over to oppose Andy Stern (another marxist) in his attempt to take it over (SEIU).

Lots to work with here re U.S. labor and if the reds win, we are in more trouble than one can imagine.
