Los Angeles - Mel Gibson's children are refusing to talk to him.

The Braveheart actor's seven kids are said to be furious at their father's separation from their mother Robyn Moore Gibson - who he wed 28 years ago - and do not want to have any contact with him.

"The children are totally furious about the collapse of their parents' marriage. None of them are talking to their dad right now. They are very upset," said Mel's Malibu neighbour.

Since the 53-year-old actor announced the end of his marriage in April he has been linked with a string of women, including Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva - the ex-partner of former James Bond star Timothy Dalton - who is signed to his production company Icon.

This isn't the first time Mel has strayed, but this time Robyn just couldn't look the other way. Mel even set Oksana up in their own love nest in Sherman Oaks, California," a source said.

No annulment granted

Devout Catholic Mel is so keen to finalise his divorce he has consulted officials at the Vatican - the home of the Catholic Church's leader Pope Benedict XVI - to see if he can get an annulment.

Church officials reportedly declined to issue him with one.

Robyn - who married the star in 1980, shortly after his breakthrough movie Mad Max - could be entitled to half of Mel's £640m ($927m) fortune which includes the £26m Catholic church he owns in Malibu, a private island in Fiji, a ranch in Costa Rica and several properties in Malibu.

The pair did not sign a pre-nuptial agreement before tying the knot, but Mel appears unconcerned about the prospect of losing so much money.

"No one doubts Robyn will get half of Mel's fortune, but he's acting like he doesn't care," a source said.

"He once told me, 'How many millions do you have to have to feel secure? Once you're over the $100m point, it's just a lot of paper piling up.'"

“...Once you’re over the $100m point, it’s just a lot of paper piling up.’”...”

Sounds like the way Zer0 looks at the “stimulus” bill.

Yeah, sure. This story is ridiculous. Even if Mel was drunk enough to dial up Rome and ask for an annulment, the answer wouldn't be "no." They'd tell him to get a civil divorce and apply for an annulment in his local diocese. That's how it works these days. Mel ain't Henry VIII, for cryin' out loud.

The kids’ll get over it once Oksana starts baking those delicious tollhouse cookies.

I hope Mrs. Gibson gets her full half. She deserves it.

It’s sad to see a man like him go kootchie mad. I would hope that I would have the good sense to castrate myself before I did something like this,

If thy eye offends thee.....

The Mel Gibson Apologists would beg to differ.

I'm very surprised he even asked. The Church has rightfully denied him.

One needs a divorce decree (final judgment) to begin the annulment process.

The Rise and Fall of Mel Gibson.

At the time of the release of the The Passion of the Christ, there were few people getting more atta boys than Mel Gibson. A drunk driving arrest, an anti-Semitic rant and a divorce later ...

Now his place has been taken by Miss California.

Why would a man who cares so much for his Catholic faith that he wants an annulment be screwing around with a woman other than his wife?

Very sad. I was giving Mel the benefit of the doubt, but the mere fact that his 7 kids are put out with him speaks volumes. What a hypocrite.
