There is a very funny "Andy Griffith Show" episode where Barney goes to jail (is it the "Citizen's Arrest" episode?!).

Anyway, in comes Otis to the adjacent cell. Otis starts tapping on the bars and let's Barney know that this is the signal for a breakout.

Later, he taps a different rhythm on the bars and explains that is is the signal that means:
