For the first time since Barack Obama was elected president last November, more than half of U.S. voters (53%) say it is at least somewhat likely that the next occupant of the White House will be a Republican. Thirty-one percent (31%) say it is Very Likely.
Thirty-five percent (35%) say it is not very or not at all likely, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Twelve percent (12%) arent sure.
This is not an expectation related to the 2012 election. It is a question about the President following Obama which could happen in either 2012 or 2016.
Naturally, there is a partisan divide--77% of Republican voters say its likely the next president will be from their party. Just 39% of Democrats agree.
Still, thats an increase among both parties from previous surveys. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, 47% now say a GOP president is likely, while 33% think not.
Just after Obamas election, 50% of voters said the next president is likely to be a Republican. But since the new president took office, that number has dropped into the mid-40s.
Forty-six percent (46%) of voters now say President Obama is governing like a partisan Democrat, down four points from last month. But the new finding is still higher than those in surveys during Obamas first few weeks as president.
Thirty-five percent (35%) believe the president is governing on a bipartisan basis, and 18% are undecided.
Support for Obama remains stable in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

Sanford/Palin!!!!
Wait until they release the “pictures”.....then, the firestorm/battle between those pics and 9/11 pics begin...
Buyers’ remorse.
Let’s hope that is CONSERVATIVE Republican - no RINOs allowed...
and 64% still think Elvis is alive.
That’s not much comfort considering the party is controlled by increasingly socialist principles.
What!? No Meghan McCain for President? :) She's working at it.
And 52% believe that the Republicans controlled congress in 2008 (if Dan Ratherbiased can insist on fake but accuracy in reports, so can I)
He is. he works at the quiznos down the street from me
YES!!!!!!! The next POTUS will be a Republican! And I know who it’s gonna be:
SARAH!!!!!!! SARAH!!!!!! SARAH!!!!!
We can’t let the RINOs pick our candidate for 2012! They want to nominate someone weak and lousy.
None of the potential GOP candidates stand a chance against Obama, EXCEPT SARAH PALIN!!!!!!!
Only she can defeat the Marxist! The liberals know this; why would they be attacking her so hard, if they didn’t think she could???
We’ve gotta support SARAH!!!!!!! She stands for American values! She is what our country needs!
I think the next President will be a:
1. American Patriot
2. Constitutionally eligible
3. A REAL CONSERVATIVE
4. A Defender of the Constitution
5. Pro-military
6. Pro-strong-national Defense
7. A clear anti-communist
8. A freedom fighter
9. A supporter of reduced government
10. A supporter of reduced taxation and government spending
And finally, will restore America to a free Constitutional Republic.
That is my wish list.
Yes, but in what year? 2012 or 2016?
After Oboma, it would HAVE to be a conservative. A RINO wouldn't have a chance with anyone. The nation couldn't afford it.
[Forty-six percent (46%) of voters now say President Obama is governing like a partisan Democrat, down four points from last month. ]
It should be a 100%. Obama is a liberal Democrat partisan ideologue. No doubt about it. Anyone saying otherwise is lying to themselves, lying in general, or just plain stupid.
Bad news for McCain.
I certainly hope for change. I just hope the GOP nominates a real conservative.
“Lets hope that is CONSERVATIVE Republican - no RINOs allowed...”
####
That is the ONLY type that will get my vote.
Yes, I know that “attitude” may lead to another term for Zero, but I see NO OTHER WAY to get this country back on track, than to insist on adherence to conservative principles in the Republican candidate.
Well if he follows his buddy Hugo Chavez’s lead, he could suspend elections altogether...
