Actually there are multiple kinds of dimming fluorescents. Market standards are not yet there.

Our house is only 20 percent incandescent at this point. We went with “warm” fluorescent floods where ever we could. The take 30 seconds or so to make their full output, but other than that, they are fine.

Dimming fluorescents don’t mix well with others of different brands, or with incandescents, on the same dimmer. Industry standards for fluorescent dimming characteristics would indeed help.
