Sen. Feinstein Aided Husband With Legislation
Newsmax ^ | April 21st | Dan Weil

Sen. Dianne Feinstein may have violated Senate ethics rules by introducing legislation in January that indirectly benefited her husband.

The legislation authorized that $25 billion of taxpayer money be given to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. to help finance an FDIC proposal to avoid home foreclosures by promoting loan workouts and increasing federal loan guarantees, The Washington Times reports.

The Democratic California senator’s husband, Richard Blum, is chairman of the board of commercial real estate colossus CB Richard Ellis (CBRE). When Feinstein introduced her bill, the FDIC had just signed a contract with the firm to unload foreclosed properties for prices higher than industry averages, the Times points out.

The FDIC generally receives all its money from insurance fees from banks rather than congressional authorizations. And the Times notes that Feinstein’s intervention was odd in that she isn’t even a member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, which oversees the FDIC for Congress.

Senate ethics rules say members must avoid not only conflicts of interest, but "even the appearance of a conflict of interest."

For the Pubbies to get a majority again, they are going to have to get rid of all the RINO, limp wrist-ed snivelers like McCain, and get some men and women with fire in their bellies....

I wholeheartedly agree, but what are the odds for that actually happening in sufficient numbers?

The Tea Parties are a start, but the real focus between now and the primaries in 2010 should be to build a consensus to vote out all the incumbents in the House and as many as possible in the Senate. Voter apathy is what has put us in this position and voter apathy will keep us here unless folks get riled and I just don't see that happening (yet).....

In the French Revolution, heads rolled. So many crooks in Washington who should be first to lose their head.

The media will likely let it slide yet again.

And the spineless GOP congressional representatives will too.

A journey of a thousand miles...Besides, the DemoFascists are going to help...Not intentionally, but as they carry out their plots and putsches, they are going to drive up the resistance against their ever increasing Death of America by a thousand tyrannies. Their own tactics will be part and parcel of the forge that will create the steel that will hack down their fortifications..

Diane is a Democrat - nothing will come of this. And, besides, she never waterboarded anyone.

I’m sure it was just an oversight.

Certainly not intentionally, but they will ultimately help with their antics. I'd like to see Boener and the rest of the so-called Republican leadership come out and loudly agree with the Dims about this call to hold a commission on the torture memos. Dims have forgotten that they were not only on board, but by most accounts were calling for much stiffer interrogation techniques, Pelousy included. Hang ‘em with their own rope.....it'd be a beautiful thing to watch if the ‘Pubbies would only have the stones to do it......

Can’t formal charges be brought? Any Citizens groups have legal standing?

She got 6 billion for her husband’s “think tank” in a no bid contract - lost chair of committee but still on committee.

Our DiFi - very corrupt.

The liberal media......... what do you expect.

Why haven’t any elected conservatives said a word about it?
