Obama administration to release Bush-era detainee photos
The pictures show Americans' alleged abuse of prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan.
An ACLU lawyer says they prove that Abu Ghraib 'was not aberrational.'

Reporting from Washington -- The Obama administration agreed late Thursday to release dozens of photographs depicting alleged abuse by U.S. personnel during the Bush administration of prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan.
At least 44 pictures will be released on May 28 -- making public for the first time images of what the military investigated as abuse that took place at facilities other than the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.
Military helped with CIA interrogation tactics, report says Defense officials would not say exactly what is contained in the photos, but said they are concerned that the release could incite a backlash in the Middle East.
The photos are apparently not as shocking as the photographs from the Abu Ghraib investigation that became a lasting symbol of U.S. mistakes in Iraq. But some show military service members intimidating or threatening detainees by pointing weapons at them. Military officers have been court-martialed for threatening detainees at gunpoint.
"This will constitute visual proof that, unlike the Bush administration's claim, the abuse was not confined to Abu Ghraib and was not aberrational," said Amrit Singh, a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union, which obtained the agreement as part of a long-running legal battle for documents related to Bush-era anti-terror policies.

They knew it would keep most of America righteously angry. It was just more proof of American media trying to influence and not present the news to further their America hating agenda.
I seriously do not understand enjoying the fruits of this country; living, learning and earning as they wish, and holding a deep seated hatred for that same country. This country isn’t perfect. Why? Because we are inherently flawed. Those flaws require us to agree to laws, as the rule of men throughout history has shown to amplify those flaws for the worse. So, no, this country is not perfect, but as intended, we’re the best thing going.
The leftists are children, who’ve been given adult powers.
Meanwhile - the rest of us will just sit around and watch him do it - until it's too late!!
I have not seen one patriot in our government with the guts to say anything about it, either.

Indian PM’s daughter works for the ACLU
Amardeep Singh reports that Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh is visiting the UN in New York this weekend, followed by meetings with Bush and Musharraf and some quality time with his youngest daughter, Amrit.
Now heres whats really interesting: Amrit Singh works for the ACLU in NYC fighting both the Pentagon on Abu Ghraib and airlines on anti-brown discrimination while flying.
Many years ago, my now-retired uncle was an Indian diplomat. Whenever my cousin and I stepped out of the family apartment, we were trailed by Indian men in dark suits, packin heat. So heres what I want to know:
When Manmohan Singh meets Bush, are their daughters verboten? Is talking about Amrit frowned upon, like Hey Dubya, is Jenna out of rehab? and Hey Dick, whats Mary been up to lately?
Could Amitabh Bachchan beat up eight Indian bodyguards, like in the movies? Or do they have some gatka moves up their sleeves?
Maybe they need to hire this woman.

Amrit Singh is a staff attorney at the ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights Project. She has fought for the release of thousands of US government documents related to the conduct of the War on Terror and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Singh has been a counsel on American Civil Liberties Union v. Department of Defense and Ali Saleh Kahlah Al-Marri v. Donald H. Rumsfeld.[1]
Amrit Singh is a graduate of Cambridge University, Oxford University and Yale Law School.[1] She is the youngest daughter of Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh, and is married to Barton Beebe, a professor of law at New York University School of Law. She is co-author of the book “Administration of Torture”. [1]
Sounds like somebody in the Indian government should have her poisoned or something. This little bych can be nothing but bad juju for the ol’homeland.
Given the facts on the damage that can be done due to a lack of Vitamin D, has anyone considered how this might have affected the detainees? Most people need about 1000IU of Vitamin D a day which comes quickly with sunshine but is much harder to a achieve via diet. For example a glass of milk or orange juice contains about 100IU vitamin D. Can the “0bama Media” assure us that the Bush administration provided these detainees with their xtra doses of multivitamin suppliments?
Well no wonder Obama wants to look forward, not back...he has his Indian friends at the ACLU doing it for him.
They’re releasing them on May 28? What a wonderful Memorial Day present to America.
Why don’t they just release them on Memorial day itself? It’s clearly meant as a slap in the face to our current servicemen as well as those who gave their lives in the current wars.
If the administration is so willing to crap on our troops, they should have a big unveiling at the Tomb on the Unknowns on Memorial Day. O himself can march up and lay a photo at the tomb instead of the more traditional wreath.
Zero wants people to forget flagrant banking scandals and $$$ Billions in bonuses. Wall Street bankers should be frog marching in orange jump suits surrounded by Federal Agents. O takes orders from his controllers: Wall Streeters and 2,300 other men that control the world economy. The same corrupt criminals gave orders to the last four presidents.
These greedy crooks control our FAKE two party political system. They also play nasty games in the woods with male prostitutes. This is the sad truth. These degenerates do whatever they want. Just like those demonic weirdos in the movie 'Eyes Wide Shut.'
Time to wake up, people.
Great post!!!! Home run!
I think that you are dead on with respect to Obama’s goals...however, one thing has really stuck out to me: Bush/Cheney & Co. had to know that Obama was going to do this given the chance (hell, many of us on FR saw it coming months ago)...If they were genuinely concerned about it-and felt that they were in jeopardy of being paraded out in some Stalinesque show trial-why didn’t GWB pardon everyone on down the chain of command while he had the chance?
By not granting such broad sweeping pardons, it makes me wonder if they socked away a sh*tload of documents/memos/reports vindicating their actions/decisions and showing the true value of their policies with respect to the safety of the nation.
Cheney is the smartest and toughest man in DC...I have a feeling he is merely laying out the first chess move of a very well-planned strategy opposite a Kenyan checker player.
I guess the taliban - 90 miles or so from Islamabad tonight - will be getting those nukes after all... Piss off the masses over there and they run to the bad guys.
'No big deal. Everybody does it. Just like a Skull 'n Bones party.'
I know we are in synch. My initial reaction when I read the article also was 'BFD' -- but then I saw the quote you excerpted from the original article (my 'speed reading' missed it again...) about the officers being court-martialed and I saw that it was really a 'BFD' - but without the sarcasm.... I can't believe it - our Country has been taken over by marxists and people seeking to destroy us from within. Silent coups are the worst.
I think its purposely being done to CYA another attack - blame Bush and his treatment of prisoners rather than BO and his weaknesses
You honestly think we will even HAVE another election at the rate he’s going??????
Pardon them for what? Had they been charged with a crime while Bush was president?
