Theres little question who will lead South Africa after Wednesdays national election. The real mystery lies in who will be the countrys first lady.
As Jacob Zuma, the man preordained to be the countrys next president, voted in his rural Zulu homeland Wednesday, one of his two current wives stood to the side watching patiently as he was mobbed by cheering crowds and reporters.
But Nompumelelo Ntuli, 34, Zumas newest and youngest wife, was soon attracting her own crowd of admirers. Women whispered, Isnt she beautiful! as Ntuli decked out in an apricot and blue tie-dye outfit beamed happily.
Jesus is Lord! is all she would say in response to questions.
Zuma, 67, a Zulu traditionalist and an unabashed polygamist, has married at least four women over the years. Only two are still with him: Sizakele Khumalo, whom he married in 1973, and Ntuli, who he wed last year. Of the other two, Kate Mantsho Zuma, committed suicide in 2000. He divorced the other in 1998.
Why does Sizakele get a "whom," while Ntuli only gets a "who"? Some kind of subtle status thing among co-wives?
Zuma makes Idi Amin appear moderate.
Savages.
Not, only that, but why is Ntuli saying, “Jesus is Lord,” when she is the second wife of a Zulu traditionalist? Is she Christian?
Yes, that was weird. Maybe it’s the only English phrase she knows and she doesn’t know what it means.
She thinks so.
It looks like South Africa will have its own version of Grace Mugabe.
say bye-bye to South Africa’s remaining vestiges of normalcy as it plunges into the common hell that is the African continent.
South African whites be warned, look at what has happened to Zimbabwe. Get out while you can.
I wonder what the young, good looking one’s role is in the marriage?
South Africans are very good. We should invite them.
I have a family member studying there and will be home in 6 or 7 weeks. Hopefully it will take Zuma as long as Obama to get up and running and my peeps will be safe long before the politbureau is in place.
