Feminism isn’t dead. It just isn’t very cool anymore, according to Jessica Valenti. Leading the pack of modern feminists, Valenti is the executive editor of the blog Feministing.com and author of Full Frontal Feminism: A Young Woman’s Guide to Why Feminism Matters. Valenti will talk about feminist blogging and her book at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 18, in Freeman Commons (205 HHH).

Valenti is a 29-year-old feminist writer with a master’s degree in women’s and gender studies from Rutgers University. She has worked with organizations such as NARAL Pro-Choice America and the Women’s Environment and Development Organization. She is co-founder of the REAL Hot 100, a campaign to highlight the important work that young women are doing across the country. Her writing has appeared in numerous publications including Ms. Magazine, Salon, and The Guardian.

This free program is co-sponsored by the Center on Women and Public Policy. The center will present the program as a partner in the Minnesota Choice Coalition. Together, they have organized several events to mark the 35th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision.
