All of the 194 aliens arrested yesterday were realeased today, but operation was "successful", says Secretary

All the 194 aliens arrested on Tuesday morning in Calais (France) were released. However, "a large number of fruitful elements of information have been collected", said the French Immigration Secretary, who promised more operations of this type.

"Sentences are not the only objective of this type of operation" [which is good since you just admitted nobody was arraigned -- Ed.] said the Ministry. "A large number of fruitful elements of information have been collected during hearings. They will be exploited later," the Ministry added, without specifying the nature of the information [Translation: They got nothing. If they had anything, they'd not trumpet it. -- Ed.] Fighting illegal immigration "is a daily long-term battle, composed of continual investigations and police operations such as yesterday's."

Tuesday, about 500 peace-keeping agents participated in a vast sweep that aimed to "fight illegal immigration organized by criminal syndicates" in Calais (Northern France) and around. All the persons that were arrested were released today.

Yesterday's news stories were clamoring that the French government was "getting tough on illegal immigration".

Some toughness. Yesterday, police arrested about 200 "migrants" (read: illegal aliens) around Calais, on the French-English Channel. Most of these aliens are Afghans. Among all the illegals swamping France, Afghans are famous for their extreme aggressiveness and their penchant for violence. There is a reason why Afghanistan is a cesspool of poverty and violence, and that reason is the behavior of its locals.

After years of inaction, the French government finally decided to sweep the area and arrest a small portion of the local illegal population (which number in the tens of thousands in Calais alone). The local Frenchmen rejoiced. Wouid Sarkozy keep his promises? After all, he had been elected largely on a program that promised to start enforcing the existing laws on immigration, which were dead letter under the Socialists and under previous President Chirac (a former member of the Communist Youth elected on a Conservative platform -- ha!).

The rejoicing was cut short today when the police discretely released all the aliens arrested today. That's right: They will not deport a single one. They didn't do a single judicial hearing. They just released them all.

The Ministry of Immigration proudly clamored that "information was collected". Since interpreters are few and far between, it is very doubtful that even a dozen aliens were questioned -- few of them speak any European language, and if they do, they quickly "forget" it when in custody. Besides, it is widely known that when arrests produce information about accomplices, police keeps it under lid so that said accomplices don't disappear. The very fact that the Ministry clamored they got information proves that they are lying.

The whole operation was therefore a complete waste of time, only motivated by the need to make the good people believe that the government was doing its job.

The Ministry of Immigration is promising more operations of this type. What can more catch-and-release sweeps possibly achieve? Not much except a Potemkine decor of front page articles clamoring anti-immigration policies, complete with furious editorials of a pro-immigration Left, while today's news of the massive release went unnoticed and will be buried in local news.

The French method for dealing with immigration is to "stabilize" the number of immigrants through massive amnesty, followed by naturalizations (about 200,000 a year, although no statistics are available, strangely).

Frenchmen in Calais should better brace for Taleban rule.
