Obama seeks a new era of energy exploration in US

NEWTON, Iowa – Marking Earth Day with a pitch for his energy plan, President Barack Obama on Wednesday called for a "new era of energy exploration in America" and argued that his proposal would help the economy and the environment at once.

...

But Obama's promise of preserving natural resources and jump-starting the economy ran smack into the reality of this economically struggling town about 30 miles east of Des Moines. The wind energy plant where he spoke, and received a tour beforehand, is a shadow of what it replaced — a Maytag Corp. appliances plant that built washers, dryers and refrigerators.

It employed some 4,000 in a town of 16,000 residents in jobs that paid about $30,000 to $40,000 a year.

These liberals are out-of-their-minds if they think that “green jobs” are going to really replace the lost manufacturing jobs in this country.

If they really want to bring jobs back to the U.S., they need to LOWER CORPORATE TAXES!!!!!

Obama said that wind could generate as much as 20 percent of the U.S. electricity demand by 2030 if its full potential is pursued on land and offshore. It would also create as many as 250,000 jobs, he said.

Obama is a nut case. Our pro-population growth immigration policies will account for about three-quarters of the projected increase of 135 million in our population over the next 40 years. This is the equivalent of adding approximately the combined populations of the UK and Germany. How does population growth impact our energy needs?

According to Population-Environment Balance (PEB), 93 percent of the U.S. increase in energy use since 1970 can be attributed to population growth. In 1970 the US consumed 14.7 million barrels of oil a day compared to approximately 22 million barrels today with about 70% of the total now being imported. The Democrats are preaching conservation and Green technology, but fail to mention increased demand due to immigration-fueled population growth. We will have to run just to stand still in terms of meeting our future energy needs. If we were to reduce our annual immigration to 300,000 from the current 1.2 million, by 2060 the population would be 80 million less than the projected 468 million. How much energy would that save?

I don't believe that "tilting at windmills" is the same thing as "energy exploration"...

In keeping with the Bamsters’ visit, WHO 1040 radio claims that Iowa gets 15 per cent of its energy from wind power.

I’m finding it difficult to believe that. 1.5 per cent maybe.

Hm.

Maybe for a very brief period every 4 years when the presidential wanna-bees are there. That answer to WHO is WHAT????

” This is the equivalent of adding approximately the combined populations of the UK and Germany. How does population growth impact our energy needs? “

It’s the equivalent of cutting 100 million of a 3 trillion dollar budget and saying it’s a savings to the American people.

The level of fact checking that goes on these days is, uh, laughable.

on the increasingly rare times that I can stomach network “news” I listen very critically to what is said, and not said. Usually “wind power” is lumped in with hydro-electric, salting the figures. Or perhaps they are listing power purchased from out of state?

Again. it is possible that Iowa makes 15 per cent of its own electricity via windmills. But still not buying it.

I can’t wait to switch our house over to windpower, at least partially. The usual. suspects will NOT enjoy *that* (suburbia)

Hm.

The president left Washington for a few hours Wednesday to visit this small Iowa town, which took a huge economic hit when Maytag Corp. shut its doors in 2007. The Maytag plant employed some 4,000 in a town of 16,000 residents in jobs that paid about $30,000 to $40,000 a year.

In its place is Trinity Structural Towers, a 90-person manufacturing firm that makes parts of wind turbines the president hopes to expand on land and at sea through the government's first plan to harness ocean currents to produce energy.

A mere 90 jobs to replace 4000? Good work O.

Well, well. I had to turn the TV off yesterday when he came on talkin his Hussein bin Jivin’ spiel on energy. I hope Americans are ready for the New Energy Economy to mimic what the apologist in chief and his boys & girlies have done to the banking industry and GM.

High utilities? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
High gasoline and fuel costs? European pricing here we go.
Rolling blackouts? We need to all share some pain.
Job losses in trade for greenie jobs? 40-1 or worse.

69,000,000 suckers are about to get pay back and it’s gonna be a REAL BITCH.

Hussein is to POTUS as the jihadi in the left seat chanting allahu akbar is to the downward spiraling planeload of passengers.

Not just arrogant and ignorant--
