LAKELAND | All aerobatic pilot Julie Clark ever wanted to do was fly. Now 60, she endured years of raised eyebrows and obstacles in pursuing her dream, including a tragedy that killed her pilot father.
The looks of disbelief came when she got her pilot's credentials and wanted to work as a pilot starting in the late 1960s and the early 1970s.
"They were looking for pilots with outdoor plumbing," Clark said. "I had indoor plumbing."
Clark lost her mother to a suffocation accident in 1963. The following year, her father was killed. Ernie Clark was the chief pilot for Pacific Airlines on May 7, 1964, when he filled in for a pilot who had called in sick.
That was a time before hijackings, when cockpits weren't locked. A man named Frank Gonzales, distraught over money and a failed marriage, entered the cockpit and shot Ernie Clark.
All 44 people aboard were killed when the plane crashed in California.

Good vid interview on site.
Be wary of idolizing anyone whom you do not know well.
I don’t see how you inferred the poster was idolizing her based on one sentence. I don’t know this lady either, nor am I idolizing her, but “interesting,” and “firecracker,” sound accurate to me.
Be wary of idolizing anyone whom you do not know well.
For the aviation list?
I think most got the message without embroiling FR in a potential libel action.
Queue Twilight Zone theme. :>)
Who would be liable for libel?
“libel action” for saying someone was interesting?
