To: Chances Are

I was one of the editors/reporters for “The Pink Sheet on the Left/American Sentinel” from 1971-1988. We could find very little evidence of Soviet and Red Chinese open funding of the CPUSA and the PLP/Guardian/OL, other than what they admitted themselves. Cash is hard to see when laundered thru their networks. However, there is evidence in congressional hearings that CPUSA members and sympathizers did fund the Hanoi lobby to the tune of many tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Today’s leftist foundations raise that funding figure to the billions. Much of this is found in their 990 Annual Reports to the IRS.

However, I did a story in the PS/AS based on an admission by the Guardian that Red China subsidized them by buying phantom productions of their newspaper and giving them cuts from tours to Red China that the Guardian sponsored.

Also, I did prove that the CPUSA was involved in funding the Hanoi-supporting group COLIFAM (Committee in Liaison with Families of Servicemen Detained in Vietnam), led by Cora Rubin Weiss (daughter of a Soviet Comintern agent, Samuel Rubin, of Institute for Policy Studies fame).

Anniversary Tours, a CPUSA front, funded COLIFAM in their 1972 trip to Hanoi to pick up several US POWS and to bring them back for propaganda use.
Previously, in sworn congressional testimony, April 1971, I proved to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs that the CPUSA was the printing house for COLIFAM envelopes and letterheads. Again, Cora Weiss was involved.

A newly declassified intelligence report, which I hope to turn into a column, will provide more in-depth information on communist-bloc operations in the US, including some funding.

An article the other day on Stanley Levinson provided a greater insight into how the Soviets/KGB funded the CPUSA thru this man, a secret party member and money launderer for them. He was also a top advisor to the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. See “David Garrow” and his just released article on newly declassified documents on Levison and his role as a Soviet operative.

Also, see John Barron’s book “Operation Solo” for more on how the Soviets funneled money to the CPUSA thru the Childs brothers and Levison.

One of the biggest questions is how much money did Castro and Hanoi funnel to their supporters in the US, or spend sending US radicals to various conferences, to cut sugar cane via the CPUSA-DGI-controlled Venceremos Brigade (one of whose leaders is now a head of one the Smithsonian Institution’s museums). This includes John Kerry’s VVAW.

There is a lot more on this that will come out in the future as additional classified documents are released by the FBI in response to FOIA requests. However, the CIA has not released anything of importance and they have a lot on this subject.

We have only begun to scratch the surface of how our communist enemies funded their supporters in America.

A question ~ when the Commies were given a chance to create linkages to American criminal gangs did they elect Capone's group or Dillinger's group when it came to Chicago?

I believe those linkages still exist ~ and connect old line Commie operators in Russia and corrupt but modern Chicago politicians.
