For 50 minutes, Obama sat mute, as a Marxist thug from Nicaragua delivered his diatribe, charging America with a century of terrorist aggression in Central America.
After Daniel Ortega finished spitting in our face, accusing us of inhumanity toward Fidel Castro's Cuba, Obama was asked his thoughts.
"I thought it was 50 minutes long. That's what I thought."
Hillary Clinton was asked to comment: "I thought the cultural performance was fascinating," she cooed.
Pressed again on Ortega's vitriol, Hillary replied: "To have those first-class Caribbean entertainers all on one stage and to see how much was done in such a small amount of space. I was overwhelmed."
Thus the nation that won the Cold War, contained the cancer of Castroism in Cuba, liberated Grenada, blocked communist takeovers of Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, and poured scores of billions in aid into this region was left undefended by its own leaders at the Summit of the Americas.
Nor was this the only unanswered insult. Hugo Chavez, who has called Obama an "ignoramus" and Bush "El Diablo," walked over to a seated U.S. president and handed him the anti-American tract "Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent."
The book blames Latin America's failures on white Europeans.
It opens, "Renaissance Europeans ventured across the oceans and buried their teeth in the throats of the Indian civilizations."
Civilizations? Before Pizarro and Cortez, the Inca and Aztec empires these conquistadors overthrew were into human sacrifice.

Did you see the picture of the captured pirate?? Maybe we should elect him president next.
what a shame nobody in this “administration” had the ‘nads to respond by giving Chavez a copy of “Liberty and Tyranny”
I’m sure Mark Levin would have autographed one for him
I think the jury is still out, and we don’t have a verdict. It’s better to start talking to the enemies, the US needs to listen to some of the complaints of 200 years, not that the offended are justified in their beliefs, but for communications and dialogs sometimes you have to just listen to the other side dump their guts...then they feel better. I give Obama a plus, his comments after were good...it was a speech about 50 minutes long. He kept his dignity. Remember, Obama scored good points with the President of Colombia also at the meeting. Where credit is due, it needs to be given.
That “alleged pirate” will probably be endorsing Nike sneakers and CAPITAL ONE credit cards (what’s in YOUR WALLET?) before this farce is over
“Thus the nation that won the Cold War, contained the cancer of Castroism in Cuba, liberated Grenada, blocked communist takeovers of Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, and poured scores of billions in aid into this region...”
This is the essence of the problem. The Obamanistas hate the fact that we did those things and will never forgive us for saving the world from Marxist tyrants. Because Obama is a Marxist.
HOGWASH!
I won’t even dignify your Bravo Sierra with a response.
“Its better to start talking to the enemies, the US needs to listen to some of the complaints of 200 years, not that the offended are justified in their beliefs, but for communications and dialogs sometimes you have to just listen to the other side dump their guts”
Hogwash. These are nations not a couple of kids who can’t get along. Self interest trumps everything, always has and always will. The weaker and more docile you appear as a nation the faster and more intense the collective assault upon you.
The book blames Latin Americas failures on white Europeans.
For Years, The left has been blaming ALL the worlds failures because of White Europeans.
Europeans are so guilt ridden that the whole continent is committing mass suicide by multiculturalism.
I’ll “dignify” his comment -WHICH HE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO MAKE- and say I agree : give credit where credit is due.
Obama’s response was clever, diplomatic, and right on the money: “The speech was about fifty minutes long.”
Considering the source of the thread article - Patrick Buchanan - there is almost nothing ANY American president could have said that would have satisfied Buchanan: a witty and literate man who is still trying to get over the fact nobody (outside of a few fans) wanted HIM for POTUS.
Hussein is a rank amateur & a buffoon...and his incompetencne & liberalism is gonna get a LOT of Americans killed unnecessarily!
He is all that, but there is an evil side to him as well. The dim party and their media are loyal to their party, not to this country. obambi is not even loyal to his party. He is loyal to himself only. It has been 2 months since he was “sworn in” and he held his FIRST cabinet meeting and that was just for show. While the last dim admin was “watching the store” we ended up with 9/11. Thanks clintons. obambi is intentionally weakening us to show the world that we are not the evil empire. To the bad guys around the world, that is a HUGE sign of weakness. What really scares me is what the obambi govt will do to us if we are hit again. Actual obambi quote: “What I regret is that the Constitution limits what the government can do to people”. That is the evil part.
You are entitled to your opinion .
Obama IS an amateur-just as George W. Bush was, and Bill Clinton before him.
George H.W. Bush was no amateur, but his predecessor, Ronald Reagan had no more experience than Bill Clinton.
When we talk about Ortega, common sense (a solid conservative quality) suggests we look at the record.
1. We tried to oust him “CIA-style” , and it didn’t work.
(We ourselves wound up looking pretty bad.)
2. The voters then ousted Ortega (who is unquestionably a communist)- and, instead of doing the usual Latin American thing, he let go of power and stepped away.
3. The voters changed their minds and re-elected Ortega
a few years ago. (Again, he didn’t do the Latin thing by seizing power.)
Would someone please explain to me why Daniel Ortega should be a great fan of the USA ???
For that matter, for about fifty years I’ve taken it as a given that Cuba should be subject to a US “embargo” .
Of late, I’ve begun wondering what benefit WE derived from that “embargo”- or at least, how it has served our national interests.
That the best you can do, lad ?
Pathetic !
“lad?”
How old are you?
waiting...
Well when you figure out how old you are, you let me know. LOL
Chavez, Ortega and the Castro Brothers can go to hell.
Obama too!
Sorry to have kept you waiting, lad ! I had a few things to do. Now that I’ve done the grocery shopping and had lunch, I can get back to you.
I’m 75 - might or might not make it to 76. I’ve been a staunch anti-communist for about 60 of those years; and
as you might imagine, I’m not overly impressed when someone says I have to agree with them or be called a Commie or a Marxist dupe, or whatever it was you were you were trying to say.
