Med Student Arrested In Craigslist Murder (Suspect Engagement Photos)

A Boston University medical student was arrested Monday in the shooting death in a hotel of a masseuse and the robbery of another woman who both advertised their services on Craigslist.

Phil Markoff, 22, was arrested during a traffic stop Monday afternoon on Interstate 95 in Walpole, south of Boston, Police Commissioner Ed Davis said at a news conference to announce the arrest. He is also connected to an assault on a Las Vegas exotic dancer in Rhode Island last week.

Markoff's arrest came days after his image was shown on surveillance video at the hotels. Davis said that authorities had him under observation for days before making the arrest.

Authorities said Markoff was originally from upstate New York and now lives in Quincy, just south of Boston. A Facebook profile matching Markoff's identity, including his photograph, lists him as a 2007 graduate of State University of New York-Albany and in the 2011 class at BU. He and his fiancé, Megan McAllister, had a website detailing plans for their wedding that was planned for August in Long Branch, N.J.

Suspect was engaged to be married in August and has info of how he met his fiancee while working in hospital ER. If he is guilty, he may still get married...but hopefully to a guy named Bubba.

How We Met:
We met while going to college at University at Albany together.  Megan was a senior and Phil was a sophomore. Our apartment buildings were right next door and we didn't even know it until we met one day at the hospital.  We both started volunteering at the hospital on September 19, 2005. We volunteered at the Emergecy Room together and spent about 2 months pushing stretchers down hallways and bringing blood and urine samples to pathology together before our first date on November 11, 2005!!  ER where we worked together...

Remember, if he is guilty, that was his front to people. Obviously, if guilty, his acts would make him neither likeable nor conservative.

I do feel sorry for Megan though-this has got to be the ultimate nightmare for a starry-eyed young lady!

She should thank her lucky stars that she's still alive to be able to bawl her eyes out. Her life path was headed in the same direction as Laci Peterson or Lori Hacking's.

Residents of the sprawling 800-unit High Point apartment complex where Markoff rented a third-floor flat earlier this year mostly described him as an average Joe, but several said there was something not quite right about him.

"The guy was friendly enough. He'd say hello when you saw him and he supposedly had a girlfriend," said John Uva, who has lived in the building for two years.

"But he was never really around much, and there was a creepy factor to it."

Mike Dyer, 27, who lives on the second floor, said he was stunned to learn he was living "right under" the accused killer.
