Gibbs: Obama’s tiny, tiny budget cut is big money where I’m from

Painfully stupid, but what else can he say? So fantastically huge is The One’s budget and so staggering the deficits we’re facing that it’s hard to even imagine a budget cut large enough to qualify as impressive. I laughed in the marijuana post at the idea of legalization bringing in an extra $20 billion a year in revenue given the pricetag on TARP, but $20 billion’s fully 200 times more than Obama’s $100 million trim. Democratic shill Jennifer Loven asks a good question of Gibbs: Why even announce something this paltry? Why not wait until they’ve put together a package of, say, $100 billion in cuts? All this does is inadvertently underscore how gargantuan the budget is.

Obama could've purchased 1/8 of all residential real estate in the USA with the bank bailout & "stimulous" packages.

100 million will buy 3 F18A Super Hornets.

$100 Miilion??? Isn’t that what the mob considers a finders fee for a union contract? Its chump change in the trillion dollar world.

Note Tapper’s follow-up about how Gibbs, just weeks ago, found the idea of $8 billion in earmarks — 80 times the size of this budget cut — “minuscule” in the context of the appropriations bill.

Girlfriend (Jennifer) has a point. Jake well he just stayed with the facts as they've been presented and Gibbs hung himself.

Honey, I overspent our budget last month by $100,000

But I want to make a cut of at least 1 cent in next month’s spending!

Too bad Tapper reminded Gibbs that he had referred to $8 billion in earmarks as “miniscule,” just a few weeks back... Or else it would have sounded so populist.

The budget cut would be "real money" in a "real" budget. But given the spending that Obama wants to foist on us all, that budget cut works out to roughly 1/3 of 1/100th or 1 percent, or roughly "thirty three one thousands of one percent." I'm not quite sure that the cut would pay for 1 days interest on the debt.

I am working that number from Rush’s program today. He quoted 9 trillion dollars as he was discussing this 100 million pittance and while also discussing the hypocrisy. Maybe call Rush—LOL. Better you than me. :-D LOL.

President Barack Obama on Monday proposed a $100 billion U.S. loan to the International Monetary Fund to boost the IMF’s resources and urged a bigger stake in the IMF for emerging powers.

In a letter to U.S. congressional leaders, Obama said the U.S. funding “does not represent a budgetary expenditure or any increase in the deficit since it effectively represents an exchange of assets.”

Obama said the NAB was “woefully inadequate” to deal with the severe economic and financial crisis.

“The deteriorating conditions threaten to worsen the recessions in these countries and could cause currencies to collapse,” Obama wrote.

“Together, these factors, particularly if they become more acute, will further lower global growth and, as we saw during the Asian financial crisis, they will cause U.S. growth, jobs, and exports to fall even more sharply,” he added.
