"I suspect that, since Notre Dame will need a scapegoat for this debacle, and Fr. Jenkins will probably lose his job, at this point perhaps he ought to determine to lose it for doing something right instead of something wrong." The only acceptable outcome at this point is for Jenkins to lose his job.

I suspect that, since Notre Dame will need a scapegoat for this debacle, and Fr. Jenkins will probably lose his job...Jenkin's would not be a "scapegoat" in this situation, since he is primarily at fault.

It is encouraging to see some actual backbone in the Catholic church slowly materializing on such an issue.
I am a Protestant and have railed against other liberal-rooted issues the Catholic church as allowed over the last 20 years, but I do want them to stand for what is truly righteous before God.
This is another step in that direction.

Lemme guess... the one hasn’t offered to step down as Commencement speaker. Oh, never mind.

Bishop Wenski writes, (SNIP) "Father Jenkins, Notre-Dame's president, must have nodded off during the Pope's speech," he concluded. Perhaps Father Jenkins paid as much attention to the Pope as Barack Obama paid to Jeremiah Wright.

Where’s the bishop of Cleveland? Doesn’t he read the papers? Or is he in the Obama death camp?

Full agreement.
Needs to be sent into Catholic rehab.
And our new bishop’s name is still not there.

Thanks for the post. I was heartened to see the comments from my bishop, Leonard Blair. He is a steady leader and strong in the faith.
My son is a third-year student at Notre Dame, though he's studying abroad until May 3rd. He'll be playing in the Commencement Band, and I'll be anxious to hear his report of the day's events. He hasn't followed the scandal closely, but said he feels sorry for his Senior friends being subjected to the controversy; I do, too.
If Barry had even an ounce of courage in him, he'd find a reason to stay away from campus that day, but I'm certain he lacks even that.

Jenkins should be dismissed from the clerical state. And a certain Empty Suit should be similarly dismissed...

Still looking for the name of Bishop Weurl of the Archdiocese of Washington.
That aside, I have said it before and will say it again, if Obama had any class he would see the trouble this is causing in the Church and decide to find something else to do that day.
However since he isnt a Christian it doesnt matter to him to see Christians at ends with each other.

Archbishop Dolan of NY, late of Milwaukee, is there, but where are Milwaukee’s other 2 Bishops — Callahan and Sklba?
And where are the other 200 US Bishops? THe days are slipping by quickly. The shame is building, and it isn’t just being heaped on Obama and Jenkins.
