The Michigan-based Thomas More Law Center has filed a lawsuit on behalf of controversial conservative talk show host Michael Savage, over a recent report by Napolitano’s agency. The suit contends that the report titlted, “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment” is nothing more than “extremism” and violates the civil liberties of veterans, while profiling Americans for their political beliefs. Says the president and chief counsel for the Thomas More Law Center, Richard Thompson, “The Obama Administration has declared war on American patriots and our Constitution. The report even admits that the Department has no specific information on any plans of violence by so-called ‘rightwing extremists.’ Rather, what they do have is the expression of political opinions by certain individuals and organizations that oppose the Obama administration’s policies, and this expression is protected speech under the First Amendment.” You can read a copy of the lawsuit by clicking here.

>>The non-profit law firm said the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s “rightwing extremism policy,” reflected in an Intelligence Assessment publicized last week, violates the civil liberties of combat veterans as well as American citizens by targeting them for disfavored treatment on account of their political beliefs.

(snip)

>>The Law Center claims that Napolitano’s department violated the First and Fifth Amendment rights of these the plaintiffs by attempting to chill their free speech, expressive association, and equal protection rights.

Savage walks the walk. He also has interviewed Phil Berg twice on his show.

When will The Golfer, Wallbanger and The Leprechaun have Berg on their shows?

Lol. Is he gonna sue the former Bush administration for preparing it?

Sometimes Doc Savage is lawsuit heavy.

At some point, the slander and libel laws have to start having some relevance. If this doctrinaire and now failing nascent obama regime does not show SOME introspection, they stand to arouse some really concentrated emotional resistance.

The Golfer doesn't have people on his shows. When's the last time you listened, Newbie?

Oh OK; though O’Reilly isn’t on radio anymore. I wasn’t sure if his Leprechaun referred to O’Reilly or Sean...

I agree. This document is an affront to liberty. I’m not sure a lawsuit is enough to counter these tyrants march on our freedoms. More Tea Parties, more lawsuits, etc.

“Is he gonna sue the former Bush administration for preparing it?”

Are you going to blame Bush for every wacko leftist in the US government? And even if you’re right that this new law enforcement assessment was initiated during the Bush administration, that doesn’t let Napotitano off the hook for issuing (and defending) it.
