Obama Advisers Challenge G.O.P. to Offer Alternatives

WASHINGTON — Top White House advisers on Sunday challenged Republicans to offer alternatives and not simply criticize administration approaches, as Congress prepared to return from a two-week recess and take up a charged agenda centered on core Obama objectives.

“You have to come constructive,” Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff, said Sunday, “and when you’re the party of no, when you’re the party of never, when you’re the party of no new ideas, that’s not constructive.”

He urged Republicans, among other things, to provide a plan for energy independence....But speaking on ABC’s “This Week,” Mr. Emanuel he would not predict whether it would encompass the thorny issue of a cap-and-trade plan to contain emissions, which some Republicans consider tantamount to a crippling tax.

Representative John A. Boehner, the House minority leader and who also appeared on “This Week,” said that Republicans had already offered alternatives to the administration’s economic-stimulus and budget proposals. As to the president’s plans to make health care affordable to more Americans — an issue that may loom over all others — Mr. Boehner said, “We’re working on a plan.”

It was difficult to gauge whether the scores of “tea parties” across the country last week — held to express opposition to high taxes and soaring government spending, but all of them with strong anti-Obama undertones — might reflect sufficiently wide public concern to slow administration initiatives. But recent polling shows support for the president, and even for current taxation rates, remaining strong.

Nonetheless, the tea parties certainly seemed to hearten some Obama critics. Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, said on “Fox News Sunday” that the president’s budget was “a roadmap for disaster that will bankrupt the country.”

Cut spending on frivolous crap. If people really want those things, new industries will arise to provide them.

What’s the point of offering alternatives when MaoBama struts around with his “I-Won” attitude?

pelosi has seen to it that there are: 1) no meetings to discuss budget issues, 2) no hearings to examine budget issues, 3) no time to consider the budgets or budget issues. Don’t say you welcome debate, and then do everything to prevent it.

This is a trap. Propose nothing specific only nice sounding platitudes, and predicting huge debt and inflation, that's how dems won, that and calling Bush stupid every day for >4 years.

Yes, so Obama and his minions can go out and laugh at, mock, and re-declare their victory. All this, while the leftist comedy acts can get fodder for their writers.

Republican Plan for Energy Independence:
1. Build lots of nuclear power plants
2. Drill for oil everywhere. Open up offshore leases. Open up ANWR.
3. License lots of new refineries.
4. Reduce regulatory hurdles and environmental impediments to #1 to #3
5. Do NOT pass any carbon taxes or cap-and-trade which will double or triple energy prices. In fact, produce an honest assessment of global warming that would decry it as a complete hoax.
6. Instruct EPA to rescind their finding that CO2 is a pollutant.
7. Cancel all tax credits for windmills and solar panels; redeploy that capital to honest, productive uses.

This really is not hard to do. And we have plenty of petrochemical, mechanical, civil and structural engineers ready, willing and able to make this a reality in short order. In fact, this would create a great opportunity for the current generation of engineers who are nearing retirement to train the next generation of young engineers.

Stimulus = TAX CUTS

Any questions OH Bam Mah?

Like those fools will take ANY advise that would actually work. Why? Because it would WORK.

I’d like to see this sissified pink panty wearing liberal back up his tough talk. Hey Rambo, since you’re so open to working with Republicans why don’t you make yourself useful and call a round table discussion with men like Eric Cantor, Jim DeMint, John Boehner, Jim Jordan etc to take ideas. You could have it nationally televised by all the major news outlets.

Of course we know you won’t because you’re simply posturing for political expediency, like all left wing loons do.

Hey BO! Try this on for size!
When You’re in a Hole, Quit Digging!
-The economy will Not be repaired by stealing money from the very people who create the jobs.
Government efforts to “create jobs”, only results in enlarging the dependent class, while destroying industry and creativity, which are the very engines of a healthy, growing economy.
-When the Congress blackmails the banks into making bad loans in the name of “affordable housing”, Congress is the problem, Not the banks!
-Giving everybody an insurance card is NOT providing healthcare! Instead, it drives price controls which guarantee a shortage of Doctors and “productive” research.
-Guaranteeing slave wages for illegal immigrants, rather than providing the means to assimilate into American society is far more racist than pretending to “respect their culture”.
-The energy needs of America will NOT be provided by ignoring Nuclear Power and telling fairy tales about the potential of wind and solar power.
-The nation’s security is NOT guaranteed by emasculating our Armed Forces and promoting a policy of appeasement.
-Disarming American citizens only emboldens violent criminals and makes NOBODY safer.
-A culture that devalues life through abortion, euthanasia, and the restricted availability of real healthcare, will never be a culture that retains the moral authority to sustain a free democracy.
-Erasing the First Amendment to the Constitution and denying free speech and oppressing religious freedom means America is lost.
-In short Mr. President, there are no elements of your speech which can be implemented as advertised and achieve the promised results. Because you are well aware of these facts, the entire speech was a lie!

This really is not hard to do.

It isn't, except for the media fog-generator, which is almost impregnable.

They HAVE BEEN GIVEN alternatives. The Dems refused to hear them. Now they act like they’re reaching for input.

P!ss on them. This economic failure IS THEIRS.

Yep...saw a real gushy, gooey CNN piece this afternoon about electric bicycles in Washington DC. The reporterette was swooning over them in celebration of, what else? Earth Day.

As long as the media are all goo-goo eyed over such cheap energy trinkets, gewgaws and doodads, the people will remain dumb and stupefied and think this junk will solve our energy problems.
