The Bigots' Last Hurrah
New York Times ^ | 4/18/09 | Frank Rich

Posted on 04/19/2009 1:39:41 PM PDT by steve-b

What would happen if you crossed that creepy 1960s horror classic "The Village of the Damned" with the Broadway staple "A Chorus Line"? You don't need to use your imagination. It's there waiting for you on YouTube under the title "Gathering Storm": a 60-second ad presenting homosexuality as a national threat second only to terrorism....

Far from terrifying anyone, "Gathering Storm" has become, unsurprisingly, an Internet camp classic. On YouTube the original video must compete with countless homemade parodies it has inspired since first turning up some 10 days ago. None may top Stephen Colbert's on Thursday night, in which lightning from "the homo storm" strikes an Arkansas teacher, turning him gay....

Yet easy to mock as "Gathering Storm" may be, it nonetheless bookmarks a historic turning point in the demise of America's anti-gay movement.

What gives the ad its symbolic significance is not just that it's idiotic but that its release was the only loud protest anywhere in America to the news that same-sex marriage had been legalized in Iowa and Vermont. If it advances any message, it's mainly that homophobic activism is ever more depopulated and isolated as well as brain-dead....

On the right, the restrained response was striking. Fox barely mentioned the subject; its rising-star demagogue, Glenn Beck, while still dismissing same-sex marriage, went so far as to "celebrate what happened in Vermont" because "instead of the courts making a decision, the people did." Dr. Laura Schlessinger, the self-help media star once notorious for portraying homosexuality as "a biological error" and a gateway to pedophilia, told CNN's Larry King that she now views committed gay relationships as "a beautiful thing and a healthy thing."...

I remember “Village of the Damned”

The way those kids stared people into doing crazy things reminds me of the spell Obama puts on the Frank Rich types.

Frank Rich of the New York Traitors.

A traitor termite of some note. No surprise that his paper still proudly hangs a Pulitzer Prize on its walls that it “won” (sic) for covering up Stalin’s mass murder of millions of Ukrainians.

And here I was hoping that someone from here would buy it.

Well, why don't they just consider it equal time under the Fairness Doctrine for To Wong Fu, With Love Julie Newmar, and stop hyperventilating about it?

Because it’s the Sabbath I’m not going to call him what he is.

It begins with an “A”

The Empty Suit in Chief and his string-pullers both in Congress and the NGO’s will never allow that to happen. There will be a government bailout of the major newspapers by this administration. Take it to the bank.

I agre with Glenn on this. If that’s what they want, fine. But don’t let the courts butt in when the right decides they DON’T want it.

The problem with these posts, and all others like it, is that the most extreme anti-gay activism groups and individuals are cited as the mainstream pro-marriage opposition to gays hijacking the word marriage.

Meanwhile, the most scurrilous, nasty, destructive and anarchist activist gays are forever protected by the same mainstream press from exposure and similar ridicule.

The last "hurrah" of pro-marriage opposition to gay activism?
They wish!

Of course, the problem goes back to something that is far bigger...

That old pesky “equal protection clause”... Which has been determined to mean pretty much whatever liberals want it to and the courts will rubber stamp it. Now that “marriage” between Frank and Steve is A-OK and fully legal there, it WILL be pushed to be recognized in all 50 states, even if the individual state says NO. People be darned.

And now that it is “legal” in a small handfull of states, a Constitutional amendment is probably long gone as an idea.

So we are all screwed (pun intended).

By the way - how many Freepers from Vermont? Are they now planning on leaving that state, expressing their outrage with their tax dollars and their presence? How about how many Freepers visit Vermont for vacations? They going to quit doing that? Buy anything or product made in Vermont? Gonna quit buying it?

Yeah...The same silence that gets us 1% of the population running rough-shod over the rest of us speaking up loudly there...

Actually, if the average person came from the 1960s today they would think we had become the “Village of the Damned,” which damnation nations who sanction such a clear cut abomination face. That they see in negate what the Bible clearly states on this and even force sex into passages where it manifestly does not belong, is the greater sin.

But as we all have sinned, may God have mercy on such, and grant them repentance unto life, as He has graciously to those who have been truly born again. To God be the glory.

I have often said the the MSM actually treasures Fred Phelps,. as it provides an actually example of what they seek to portray all who must conscientiously oppose homosex.

Harvard trained marketing experts and social scientists Marshall Kirk (1957 - 2005) and Hunter Madsen advocated avoiding portraying gays as aggressive challengers, but as victims, while making those who opposed them as evil persecutors. As a means of the latter, they promoted “jamming,” in which Christians, traditionalists, or anyone else who opposes the “gay” agenda are publicly smeared. “In any campaign to win over the public, gays must be portrayed as victims in need of protection so that straights will be inclined by reflex to adopt the role of protector ... The purpose of victim imagery is to make straights feel very uncomfortable,” they suggested.

Is this more gay-promoting?

I do not have a TV so I only read about how MSM gays made crude jokes about tea bags.

Is that all they think about? Is that why they hate America as She is? They want sex in street, on the buses, in the supermarket's express checkout line -- 10 partners or less . . . .

Of course it is, although they will not openly admit it, except in weaker, unguarded moments of emotional outbursts. Consider their vile attack on Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle, who had the "gall" to denounce and try to stem the disgusting epidemic of public restroom sex in the city's public parks several years ago. He was absolutely demonized for his stance against public sex.

The Perverts Last Hurrah is approaching with Gathering Speed, and the rat house known as the New York Times, is nearing the day when it’s doors will be chained and notices of foreclosure are posted on all of it’s chained doors.

And nothing illustrates the portrayal of homosexuals as “victims” more than the AIDS issue. Instead of blaming them and their promiscuous lifestyles as the perpetrators, they were made out to be “victims.”
