I’m also sick of these people using an offensive term to ‘rename’ us in the media. This ‘teabag’ label is typical of the democratic, liberal ad hominem attacks they know and practice so well.
And, in case they weren’t paying attention, we
WERE complaining about Bush’s and Congress’ out of control spending. DUH!
in case they werent paying attention, we WERE complaining about Bushs and Congress out of control spending. If the protests really ARE about taxes and wasteful government spending, where were the Teabaggers when Mr. Bush was borrowing billions monthly from communist China? And what of the countless billions "misplaced" and unaccounted for by government contractors such as Halliburton? No, spending can't be it.
We were complaining about government spending when the deficit was not the tenth part of what this administration is entirely cavalier about. As Everett Dirksen noted, "A trillion dollars here, a trillion dollars there, and pretty soon you're talking real money." Only Dirksen actually said, "A billion dollars here, a billion dollars there . . . " If this government is cavalier about a trillion dollar increase in the deficit, what assures us that the same government will not decide it wants to spend ten trillion more? The Russians say that "quantity has a quality all its own."
We protest because we understand that every dollar the government spends is government debt. And that if the government becomes uncreditworthy, the blind followers of the Pied Piper call of "Change" will learn to their (and our) cost that not merely some but most possible change is not so much "reform" as ruination.
