But the question begs to be asked ( and answered)..what belongs..truly belongs to Caesar? I’ve had this discussion with many people and the argument is that, as Christians, we are to abide by the law of the land. I agree with that to a degree, but when man’s law violates God’s higher law..well..that’s problematic for me.I’m sure it’s the same for most of my brothers and sisters in Christ. Thanks for the link..checking it out now.
IMO . . .
We are held accountable only for the direct actions we perform ourselves. Given a false sense of accountability for actions beyond your control, there would be no end of blood guilt and you would be ineffectual in a spheres of life. What you do, personally, is the key - not Washington. If your sense of direct responsibility extends there, then you usurp your elected leadership’s authority (they have accountability before God) and you also become liable (or open to the delusion) that ALL moral activities of Government are your responsibility. We ARE called to pray for leadership, however, and our legal options are to remove bad leadership by democratic elections.
Now, if you are specifically asked to pay for an abortion, or to perform one, that’d be a totally differenet proposition.
Our administration is far worse than Augustus Caesar ever was. At least Augustus encouraged healthy Roman families.
