Greenhouse emissions (like carbon dioxide) endanger human health: EPA
Reuters on Yahoo ^ | 4/17/09 | Deborah Zabarenko and Tom Doggett

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Friday declared that greenhouse gas emissions like carbon dioxide endanger human health and welfare, clearing the way for possible U.S. regulation.

The EPA said it found that "greenhouse gases in the atmosphere endanger the public health and welfare of current and future generations" and human activities spur global warming.

"These high atmospheric levels are the unambiguous result of human emissions, and are very likely the cause of the observed increase in average temperatures and other climatic changes," the agency said in its finding, released online at epa.gov.

Regulation is not automatically triggered by the finding, the agency said. There will be a 60-day comment period.

The environmental agency said motor vehicles contribute to rising greenhouse emissions and the "threat of climate change."

Just remember, the next you boil water for your tea, you’re committing an environmental crime.

How the hell can what mammals exhale and trees inhale be a goddam pollutant?

Only a brain dead public school graduate could believe this rubbish!!!!

God help the few sane people left in this society - we are outnumbered and doomed.

It’s bad enough to go over the edge...twice as bad to go over the edge under acceleration!

The SF Chron online headline was “Carbon Dioxide Called a Threat.”

Hmmm, did they consult any trees? I think even Julia Butterfly Hill knows that trees require carbon dioxide to grow.

Classic power grab by the executive branch - use regulation to achieve something that Congress has rejected. I don’t think that will go over too well on the hill, even with the ‘rats in charge.

This is a watershed for Republicans.

What the EPA is setting in motion here will — absolutely, positively, WILL — significantly raise the cost of living for every single American.

Not just those making over $250,000, or whatever today’s magic number is.

Not just those with jobs.

EVERYONE.

Fixed income, working poor, middle class, wealthy — makes no difference.

Add on top of the “direct” costs all the “indirect” costs from the vermin scum trial lawyer filth suing all manner of businesses for “contributing to health problems”. Oh yeah, that’s coming too.

Now, back to the Republicans.

They can either forcefully, unashamedly, unceasingly, unflinchingly remind the American people over and over and over, every opportunity they get, how the Democrats are SCREWING the populus for their trial lawyer and U.N. buddies benefit. The pubbies can throw all manner of monkey wrenches into the machinery to stop by ANY MEANS NECESSARY this travesty.

Or, they can meekly fall into line behind Obama and Pelosi and Reid and play the game.

Brainless, gutless, self serving sacks of political puke that they are, I expect the Republicans will meekly fall into line.

That is a FLAT LIE by anti human environalmist who want the human race to be destroyed. They want to rid the earth of all humans. But if that is the case and NO humans are here who cares what the earth looks like or feels like or what the hell is here. If it were the truth then there would never have been climate change in the history of the earth.

Infuriating is what this “finding” is.

$1 tax for each breath is possible, in principle, if they go ahead with it.

Yes, indeed, let's stop CO2 so that all plants die. We should put breathing bags on all mammals so that the nasty CO2 can't get out in the atmosphere./SAR

I tell you I didn't think even the EPA would be dumb enough to list CO2 as a health hazard. It will be interesting to see how many so called scientists sign on to this BS.
