Perry destroyed his career with this dumb piece of demagoguery. For the life of me, I can’t understand why any politician would introduce so inflammatory a lunatic fringe word like “seccession” and expect to retain any esteem whatsoever from everyday Americans. Even here on FR, where the lunatic fringe is somewhat active, Perry is seen as a complete fool by most.

What an idiot.

As to the hastily done survey, 75% prefer to stay in Union: Well, Duh! They’re Americans; some of the best ones out there. But what it means to be an American now, versus what we THOUGHT it meant, is changing FAST. Give it time. Take the survey again when the takers outnumber the givers in this country even worse than they do now.

I hear your passion, and I share it. I love this country with all my heart......

But, it’s getting to a point where it doesn’t feel like my country anymore, and I fear what I sense is coming. That effects more than me.....that effects my family and those I love. I do not wish them to have to live in a country that no longer has personal freedom and individual liberty.

It gets me thinking that we need to be considering all options, including secession.

I’d like to see a poll of how many would like Washington DC to secede from the union.

Why should WE retreat?

Fight, Texas. STAND AND FIGHT!!!!

According to a Houston radio stations polling, 65% of the respondents say yes and 35% say no to secesion.

And a Houston television station’s poll (KTRK - abc affiliate)showed similar results, although the poll has been pulled down now.

Thank you for the thoughtful answer and for not flaming me for what I said, I so appreciate that.

Do you think it is really seriously being considered? That means we would be surrounded enemies on all sides (including Mexico).

I wonder about our loved ones in the other states.
I wonder about basically handing the rest of the country to the enemy...

THE SURVEY IS BASED ON ONLY 500 LIKELY VOTERS!

75% IS ONLY 375 TEXANS!

25% WHO WANT TO SECEDE IS ONLY 125 PEOPLE!!

DON’T YOU PEOPLE SEE WHAT A SHAM THIS SURVEY IS

A couple million? You sound like an underestimating congressperson.

Even if the poll results are accurate (which I doubt), that’s NOW - when there’s concern about what’s going to happen. Check the numbers after more of BO’s idiocy is actually in place.

Spoken like a true “transplant”.

You talk about “abandoning the country”. Well millions of “transplants” such as yourself have done just that. Instead of staying in the bleu states and fixing the problems there people like you ran away or “jumped ship” to Texas.

Every day I see more and more license plates from states like California, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Massachusetts, Maine, Washington state, etc on the roads here. They all aren’t here on vacation, hun. No, they have “jumped ship” instead of staying in their bleu states and fixing the problems there. What is worse is that the leftist vermin are “jumping ship” to here, too, and you can bet that they will try to start up the same leftist collectivist BS that turned the bleu states into economic and social hellholes.

All good thoughts....and yes, I do think it’s being seriously considered by many. What actually happens, of course, remains to be seen.

As far as the “surrounded by enemies” part...there is a difference between enemies that are simply ideologically at odds with you vs. those that actually want to kill you and yours. I think that those in the remaining US republic would probably be the former....but, who knows??

I don’t think that this would be handing the country to the enemy. That’s already being done by our own federal government. I take no credit/blame for that!

Wow, if true then not bad, not bad... only have to convince 25% more and the ball gets rollin’. Actually, if zerO and the libs keep at it, they’ll convince the last 25% all by themselves.
