Janet Napolitano was right. There were hatemongers at the Tea Party rallies on Tax Day. They called themselves reporters.
The Department of Homeland Security released a pre-emptive assessment report on the dangers of right-wing extremists just a week before the tax protest rallies. According to DHS, these potentially include pro-lifers, supporters of border security and that notoriously unstable group - U.S. military veterans.
And I can report that there were, in fact, quite a few vets at our Tea Party at Long Wharf. But other than their crazy notion that spending our kids into an $11 trillion hole is wrong, they didnt appear to be unhinged.
The same cannot be said for the reporters.
CNNs Susan Roesgen, an alleged reporter covering the Chicago Tea Party, lashed out at the participants like an angry MoveOn.org member. What does this have to do with taxes? she demanded of one attendee, as he held his 2-year old and spoke of personal liberty. Dont you realize youre eligible for a tax credit, she shouted at him. Dont you know that Illinois is getting stimulus money?
Unable to get the participants to join her in support of Obama-nomics, Roesgen dismissed the event as anti-government and anti-CNN, since this is highly promoted by right-wing, conservative network, Fox.
Roesgen is right. Fox is different from CNN. For one thing, Ive never seen a Fox field reporter shout down an interview subject. And people actually watch Fox.
When Roesgen threw the story back to the studio, things didnt get better. CNN and MSNBC anchors made sexually-suggestive puns by turning tea bag into a verb. (If you have to ask, you dont want to know.)
At least they were talking about it. In Boston, that would have been...

But, when your ideas are so ludicrous that they cannot be defended by reason - attack the man.

My head went up to the byline after that paragraph. I was happy to see Michael Graham’s name again. I always liked his stuff when he was doing radio ~ before he got fired ~ down here in DC.
The drive-by media has dropped all pretense of being actual media. They constitute one big propaganda machine, nothing more.
Her ignorance was glowing during that interview.
I wonder how many DHS employees were at the tea parties? I mean it was their first chance to use their expensive electronic toys on a potential “man caused disaster”.
And remind him that he’s entitled to $400 from the government. Did she seriously think that $400 would make that man feel any better about what is going on in his country? Did she stop to think that he likely will pay more than $400 to be “entitled” to that $400? That taxpayers are the ones paying for their own entitlements and the entitlements of others? That was one of the funnier parts of the “interview” (and i use the term “interview” loosely).
“...and that notoriously unstable group, U.S. military veterans.”
They sure are notoriously unstable; they took up arms, stood up and went to wherever they were needed; they saw things in war that would drive lesser souls insane and they live with those memories for life. They raise families, work, pay bills, vote, pay taxes, volunteer in their communities, respect the law, and appreciate the freedom they have here and mourn the lack of it elsewhere. Above all, they have been vigilant because they know tyranny and hate it.
Now, the people who embrace the likes of domestic terrorists who have made bombs, plotted to destroy property and wondered how to dispose of people who would oppose their idea of totalitarian paradise are now calling American military veterans weak-minded dolts who would be easily led to “right wing extremism”.
HOw absolutely amazing...absolutely amazing.
IMHO
It is evidence of just how dumb you need to be to support Obama. He should have asked her to move money from her purse to her pocket.
Is she richer now?
Another good one, Mike! Thanks!
I'm sure he knew what he was thinking, he just wasn't able to articulate it very well. Which is probably why his "interview" was one that they chose to feature.
Michael Graham Ping!
Propaganda machine in full court press.
Obama, who cannot utter a natural sentence without prompting (teleprompting), is considered thoughtful and articulate.
Common man is, well, just so common, you know not one of us elites - ewwww, yuck.

In 1999 I put a bumper sticker on the left bumper of my truck, it says, "I Don't Believe The Liberal Media"
I still have that truck and the bumper sticker. The bumper sticker on the right side says, "Join The Revolution

Correct. The stimulus takes $50 out of your left pocket and puts $.50 in your right pocket.
You know you are on a DHS watch list. You cannot form any ideas independent of the ruling class.
Right. Even more so than usual. We've shown some power in numbers and they're scared.
I expect some politicians to make moves to lead us into thinking that they are with us. If/when they achieve that, it'll be back to business as usual. That's why we can't let our guard down now and can't stop pressing back.
You mean like a certain Texas governor?
Few of us would be when put on the spot like that. Lesson learned: Have your 1 minute speech ready.
