in the case of my ancestor, PVT Little Thunder Freeman, he was "a person of colour" who volunteered to fight for FREEDOM, for his tribe & for a NEW southern nation.

he had LITTLE of material worth. upon enlistment, he "brought to the war effort" the following (according to his enlistment papers): one black felt hat, two shirts (likely homespun or leather), a pair of trousers, a 14-gage double-barrel shotgun & a "good, young, red mule".

RICH aristocrat??? i think NOT. instead he was a FREEDOM FIGHTER, just as 99% of other southern fighting men were. = i HONOR his memory & that of every other dixie HERO/MARTYR.
