MOSCOW (AFP) The United States and Russia can resolve a missile dispute that has poisoned relations in recent years and even start working together on the issue, a top US senator said on Wednesday. Russia has repeatedly expressed anger at US plans to place missile defence facilities in the Czech Republic and Poland, an issue that helped trigger a substantial deterioration in ties under former president George W. Bush. "We believe that if we can undertake some serious discussions and negotiations in the area of missile defence, this subject which has divided us can actually turn around and we can work together," said Senator Carl Levin.

Sure Carl, if you cave in and allow Russia to totally dominate Europe, remove all US bases as a token of good faith, you will get along fine with the Russians, and have some friendly dialog in which to discuss other concessions they'd like to have...
