Tea Parties held in protest of tax day [Roanoke, Rocky Mount, VA]

People across the country are gathering today for tea parties.
Its all a part of a tax day protest.
Those involved say they arent happy with how the government is spending tax payer dollars.
Among those events going on in our area is a demonstration at the Franklin County Courthouse in Rocky Mount. Well have a full report from that tea party tonight on WSLS at 5:30 p.m.
A tea party is also planned in Roanoke along Wiley Drive from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Well bring you what happened there, tonight on WSLS at 11:00 p.m.
Huber: Over 500 in attendance along Wiley Drive in Roanoke. The organizers were new to the protest scene and absolutely adorable and enthusiastic. Scroll down for pics.

Follow up the Tea Party with a phone call to your U.S. senator advising them to vote NO on the budget. Encourage others to do likewise. And, the true power is at the polls in 2010!

Cowardly Republicans and many Democrats ignore these Tea Parties at their own political risk.
It’s there and it’s growing. Just 3 months into Obama’s Presidency and he has stirred more grass root Republicans than anyone before him.

It was impressive to see the number of people who came out for a small city. It was very grass roots - I don’t think that there was a single politician or “professional activist” among the speakers.
