Obamas pay more than $900,000 in taxes By Sam Youngman Posted: 04/15/09 05:18 PM [ET] The new first family paid more than $900,000 in federal and state taxes this year after President Obama's book sales last year earned him more than $2.6 million.
In addition to paying more than $855,000 in federal taxes, the Obamas also paid more than $77,000 in state taxes in Illinois, according to the White House.
Vice President Biden and his wife, Jill, reported paying $46,952 in federal taxes on "an adjusted gross income" of close to $270,000.
The Bidens paid a little more than $11,000 in state taxes in Delaware.
While the Obamas donated more than $172,000 to charity, including $25,000 gifts to the United Negro College Fund and Catholic Relief Services, the Bidens donated a little more than $1,800.

While to Biden paying higher taxes is patriotic, donating to charity is an intrinsic evil.
Biden only has a net worth of about $150,000.00 and that’s after about 36 years in the Senate. He’s about the poorest Senator ever.

If Biden only has a net worth of roughly $150K, then he's a big moron as I suspect he is.
How is that possible? Adjusted for inflation, he's probably earned in Salary somewhere around that much each year. If after 40+ years, he's only accumulated a net worth of $150k, he must either be a raging gambler or a coke fiend.

Biden lives in a huge family compound. It is highly likely that the reason his sons are successful lawyer/lobbyists is that they've been selling access to him and his acquaintances. There's no need for him to make or take the money directly.
Obama should be in the 91% bracket like what they threatened the bankers with over thier bonuses.
In my opinion, almost any time a politician “writes” a book it’s just a way to funnel money to them “legally,” very much akin to all the Boards of Directors they or their spouses serve on.
That very well may be true. But, even without any ancillary income, Biden annual government salary should have given him much, much more than $150K net worth, even with the most conservative of investment strategies.
I spent 20 years as a USMC officer. When I retired, my net worth was WELL OVER $150K.

We both agree that its unlikely he could be a Senator, with the wages and the perks, and only accumulate a lifetime saving of $150K
So what do you think is the real story with Joe:
- just financially stupid and poor?
- a misleading or false financial statement?
- or wealth accumulated under his sons’ names through the peddling of influence?

There was a report here last year that she got a pay raise at her hospital board job, after hubby earmarked money from the federal budget for the hospital. If common folks did that, we be investigated and jailed.
