I may get in a lot of trouble for this, but thats the risk you take with bold statements. And the bill on slavery reparations, currently before a Congressional committee, requires the boldest. Even President Obama stated he was against this a year ago. Why is this bill even in committee?
Well, if he isnt going to say anything, I am. By the way, this is an old song. Never liked it.
The issue of reparations for slavery, once a hot topic of political speculation and conjecture among pundits everywhere, not to mention political agitation and racial tension, is fast becoming a possible source of yet even more crushing financial drain on an already shaky American economy.
It is called H.R. 40, submitted by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) with three co-sponsors, and its exact title is Commission to Study Reparation Proposals for African-Americans Act. It was introduced on January 6th of this year, and has since been referred to committee.
A report by the committee is pending. Here is the bills foreword:
To acknowledge the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery in the United States and the 13 American colonies between 1619 and 1865 and to establish a commission to examine the institution of slavery, subsequently de jure and de facto racial and economic discrimination against African-Americans, and the impact of these forces on living African-Americans, to make recommendations to the Congress on appropriate remedies, and for other purposes.

600,000 dead and God-only-knows how many trillions of dollars in all the different varieties of Welfare.
The same people who demand reparations for slavery also claim that the ancient Egyptians were black. If that’s true then blacks must pay Jews reparations for slavery.
Political Correctness taken to the extreme. It’s simply a politician posturing for the black vote in a state that has a large black population. If this bill ever sees the light of day, I hope the heirs of the 644,000 soldiers who died trying to free the slaves also get together and try to blackmail the US in the same way. To me, those soldiers’ lives more than pay the bill.
While we’re at it, why don’t we offer reparations to the Jews who were subjected to quotas and restrictive covenants, the Irish who were offered only the lowest forms of manual labor, the Eastern Europeans who were turned away from jobs...all long after the end of slavery?
I am completely for reparations. With two provisions. #1 Renounce US citizenship #2 Immediate repatriation to country of origin with no US Visa or visitation rights.
Sorta like a golden parachute.
I’m glad they are bringing up this bill. It is going to get millions of normal people fired up enough to say “enough!” This bill is the ultimate in bowing down and showing how much its sponsors hate this country and themselves.
And Christians too because we follow a Jewish carpenter. Just think about how much interest has accrued on that over the last 4,000 years.
The black side of President Obama’s family came from a non-slave immigrant. Would President Obama receive, or would he pay, the reparations?
Les-be fair, the gays have to get reparations first.
I contend that much, if not most, of the welfare (War on Poverty) money did not go to the INTENDED recipients. Rather, it went to college educated bureaucrats, who run the local, state and federal welfare agencies.
Just like anything else, if an object (cash, housing, car, etc) is given to a person, that person has no real appreciation. Instead the recipient only develops a sense of entitlement. And that gets passed on the the next generations.
Any motivated Jr. High schooler could save $2,000 in a year. So if living in the USA is such a humiliating experience for them, they can save their money and go to Africa. PERMANENTLY.
I have NO WHITE GUILT and will not allow anyone to assign it to me.
