(AP) — ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin acknowledged Tuesday that global warming was harming her state but said stepped-up natural-gas production could mitigate its effects.
Speaking at a hearing before Interior Secretary Ken Salazar -- the third of several he is holding to consider renewed oil and gas leasing on the Outer Continental Shelf -- Palin said that relatively clean-burning natural gas could supplant dirtier fuels and slow the discharge of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
"We Alaskans are living with the changes that you are observing in Washington," she said. "The dramatic decreases in the extent of summer sea ice, increased coastal erosion, melting of permafrost, decrease in alpine glaciers and overall ecosystem changes are very real to us."

But, they are growing in other parts of the world and global sea ice is back to 1979 levels, levels seen at the height of the global cooling scam of the 1970s.

However, simply waiting for low carbon emitting renewable capacity to be large enough will mean that it will be to late to meet the mitigation goals for reducing CO2 that will be required under the most credible climate change models,including the International Panel on Climate Change model scenarios.”

+ Thanks to a rapid rebound in recent months, global sea ice levels now equal those seen 29 years ago, when the year 1979 also drew to a close.
Ice levels had been tracking lower throughout much of 2008, but rapidly recovered in the last quarter. In fact, the rate of increase from September onward is the fastest rate of change on record, either upwards or downwards.
The data is being reported by the University of Illinois's Arctic Climate Research Center, and is derived from satellite observations of the Northern and Southern hemisphere polar regions.
Each year, millions of square kilometers of sea ice melt and refreeze. However, the mean ice anomaly -- defined as the seasonally-adjusted difference between the current value and the average from 1979-2000, varies much more slowly. That anomaly now stands at just under zero, a value identical to one recorded at the end of 1979, the year satellite record-keeping began.
I didn't get that and don't think anyone that can read would get that but they might get that she actually buys the global warming premise - ie that it exists. That's all I'm saying, and if you read what I've said, that's _all_ I'm saying.
And I don't agree with your assessment that there was a 'global warming' unless you only mean it in the sense that it is normally warmer during the day than at night. The form of data collection has been cooked as well as the computer models. There is no actual evidence of it and even using their data the planet has been 'cooling' since 1998. But even that is bogus because of their data collection. It is a non-issue and anyone that even suggests that it is an issue or esp. that anyone needs to do anything whatsoever about it is not using their mind.

See my more recent post where I quote exactly what the AP reported as in the article, but from the gov's PAC's pdf. IOW, while the AP didn't have the full text they did point out that the Gov. did acknowledge global warming's existence - exactly what I commented about.
Thanks for the addendum. So Palin also holds the International Panel on Climate Change model scenarios to be credible. It gets worse and worse.
But that's clearly not credible. It doesn't fit the agenda.

Most don’t realize we have been in an ice age and might be coming out of it. Of course this lack of sunspot activity may be going another direction. Libs don’t see any of this and will try to get control of us any way they can.

Yeah, I am going to go by the Couric interview where the handlers were as bad as Couric and one of many reasons Gov. Palin is writing a book.
There is a long list of speeches, writings, etc. where she states against global warming.
Quote on “credible climate change models”:
“...it will be too late to meet the mitigation goals for reducing CO2 that will be required under most credible climate change models, including the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) modeled scenarios.”
