(AP) ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin acknowledged Tuesday that global warming was harming her state but said stepped-up natural-gas production could mitigate its effects.
Speaking at a hearing before Interior Secretary Ken Salazar -- the third of several he is holding to consider renewed oil and gas leasing on the Outer Continental Shelf -- Palin said that relatively clean-burning natural gas could supplant dirtier fuels and slow the discharge of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
"We Alaskans are living with the changes that you are observing in Washington," she said. "The dramatic decreases in the extent of summer sea ice, increased coastal erosion, melting of permafrost, decrease in alpine glaciers and overall ecosystem changes are very real to us."

So I am to believe you, or what came out of her very own mouth?
Sorry. No dice. No Conservative would ever utter the words.
And the Global Warming scam is Al Gore nonsense.
I do NOT support “global warming hysteria”. I have witnessed climate change but I do not believe that our climate change is all due to man. It is cyclical as many old-timers in Alaska will attest to.
I also do not support amnesty for illegal aliens.
You obviously have some sort of personal issue with our Governor. Oh well, you can’t please everyone all of the time, but Palin is sure pleasing most Alaskans.
I don't buy into your premise that her only choices were to either 1) appear to concede on the issue of man-caused global warming or 2) tell them they're full of crap.
The fact that this is being discussed here is evidence that there's a danger in wording statements that can be construed to show flipfloppiness.
You are. That's why you fabricate rather that quote.
"Simply waiting for low-carbon-emitting renewable capacity to be large enough will mean that it will be too late to meet the mitigation goals for reducing [carbon dioxide] that will be required under most credible climate-change models," she warned.
Yup. People are refusing to see this. It's like they WANT to believe the MSM every time they pull this garbage.
Conservatives claim to hate the media, then fall for every trick. So naive.
many on this thread are the Palin bashers & Sanford supporters who is a global warmer , I posted his comments earlier
I did, read the pdf and while I do acknowledge that much of the words were detailing the push for Alaskan resources, there was this:
"...protect our national security by reducing Americas dangerous dependence on foreign oil, and confront the dangers of global warming."
Did others miss that part? Don't care about it?
and then this:
"Some would have you delay exploration and development in the federal offshore of Alaska over concerns related to global warming and its effects in the Arctic. First of all let me make it clear that the State of Alaska understands the effects of climate change in the cryosphere. We Alaskans are living with the changes that you are observing in Washington. The dramatic decreases in the extent of summer sea ice, increased coastal erosion, melting of permafrost, decrease in alpine glaciers and overall ecosystem changes are very real to us."
This is what was reported by the AP word for word. And while one can claim it is taken out of context, the acknowledgement that 'the state of Alaska _understands_ the effects of climate change', etc. etc. is pretty clear - that at least part of the premise has been bought. The further elaborations offer further agreement.
"Many believe that in order to mitigate these long term and systematic changes it will require a national and global effort to decrease the release of human produced greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. However, simply waiting for low carbon emitting renewable capacity to be large enough will mean that it will be too late to meet the mitigation goals for reducing CO2 that will be required under most credible climate change models, including the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) modeled scenarios. Meeting these goals will require a dramatic increase, in the very near term, to preferred available fuels - including natural gas that have a very low carbon footprint and that can be used within the existing energy infrastructure. These available fuels are required to supply the nations energy needs during the transition to green energy alternatives."
Here, she obviously has a different view as to 'how to mitigate' the problem but that in itself _acknowledges_ 'the problem'. I agree that her solution is better but only because I know there is no actual global warming occuring as I've posted above, but she seems to think it that it _also_ helps 'solve the problem'. If you don't see that, then we have little else to discuss.
Conservatives like facts and quotes. Liberals like lies and spin.
Then Sanford/Palin 2012. They can appoint Gore to head the EPA.
No. Hannity or Beck would do. I don’t watch those others and am not sure who some of them are.

India has a lot of family that must go if the AGW freaks continue on.
She's simply saying that waiting for THEIR renewable energy plans won't even fit THEIR models, even the most credible.
It's fairly easly to see, except for those who choose to see what they want...and believe the AP spin instead.
No more .....
Couric: Do you read magazines in AK?
In the next revision it can be changed to "global climate change" to keep up with the latest politically correct jargon.
What transparent dishonesty on your part. She stated "most credible climate-change models," not the "most credible" of "THEIR models."
"Simply waiting for low-carbon-emitting renewable capacity to be large enough will mean that it will be too late to meet the mitigation goals for reducing [carbon dioxide] that will be required under most credible climate-change models," she warned.
looks like the media suckered me. Thanks for correcting this fake news.
