*snicker*
I’m not up on what all we got....but, aren’t we spread a little thin with all this latest crap going on?
I could be wrong. It has happened in the past...
Anybody??
Aren’t the pirates excited about BO? That was our important news today!
Heres a thought. Since merchant ships do not carry guns, with the exception of the one the Master keeps in his safe, the next time those bozos come alongside and try to board, grab one of the flare pistols from a lifeboat, give them a shot from that and see how they like it Those things will burn a hole right trough you and right through the bottom of their boat.
“Easily solved if the people who work on the boats would just say I aint gettin on without a gun.
I think you need more than a gun on the ships, you need heavy weapons, handled by trained crews. This last attack was carried out by 4 boats and the shooters were armed with rifles and RPGS. If we would put heavy weapons on the ships we would only have to do so for a few months. You blow a few of these skiffs out of the water and the pirates will be quite reluctant to attack a ship.
Until there is a final solution to this problem, the merchant mariners will have to employ such creative tactics to survive.
I’ll wager that there are many such ideas/scenarios circulating among the crews....
Yep, 4 ships, none of the American or French flagged.
“Could someone Please toss in some bacon ?
Now there is a darn good idea.
Mark all those shipping container on the decks of the ships as “PORK, BACON, HAM,” etc.
Thanks Milly
Well first, you cannot use merchant mariners in this way. They are civilians. During WW2 merchant ships carried Navy armed guards to man the guns and they were heavy weapons. If we could get a few Navy people on the ships and mount a 20mm on each bridge wing, Idon’t think you would need more than that. A 20mm would blow them out of the water. But you’re not going to send merchant seaman out to do this. Yes, I know, in WW2 they did jump in and man the guns when one of the Navy people got hurt. It’s not just the shipowners that won’t allow it. It’’s also the U.S. Coast Guard who has a say in what merchant mariners can do.
There's a heck of a lot of difference between attacking an unarmed ship and attacking a ship which has half a dozen crew members shooting at you with AR-15s. Our ships need to leave blood in the water.
“Our ships need to leave blood in the water.”
Agreed, but I’d like to see the odds in our favor overwhelming. Better to sink all the skiffs than just kill some of the pirates.
