Everyone knows that the U.S. Imperial Occupation has been far worse for Iraqis, and the death rate has been under 50,000 per year.
It is impossible for an 8 year war to account for over a million dead, since that would mean Saddam (who started the war) was responsbile for over 125,000 deaths per year, far worse than the deaths under the Imperialist Agressor Americans.

It’s *really weird* to be reading about a future event — couched in “language” stating it as if it is a “fait accompli” — having *already* happened.
There is something “surreal” about an article that starts off this way... :-)
