Ping,
Figures that Patty O’Buchanan would feel sorry for this guy. Maybe he knew Patty’s uncle who died in the concentration camp (from falling out of a guard tower).

If what PB says is true then this prosecution is not warranted. Can the critics provide any proof that John Demjanjuk is guilty?

I don't know any of the facts in this case. Although I vaguely remember PB standing up for this guy years ago when he was first arrested. I thought then that PB was really sticking his neck out on something that was, to say the least, controversial. This time around I am less familiar with the case. Didn't even know about the latest up coming trial.

So I am curious as to why PB would step into this again. He surely can't get anything for it except the kind of press that will reinforce his image as an antisemitic.

I am no Buchananite but respect him for sounding off on what he feels is an injustice. He can't gain any personal or political benefit out of this by speaking out. I think he is acting out of sincere belief in this man's innocence. Given the climate of hate and fear going around today, I think this is an act of courage and nobility on PB's part.

I know many sincere and honest FReepers will disagree with this assessment...but that's how it looks to me at first glance.

The spirit behind this un-American persecution has never been that of justice tempered by mercy. It is the same satanic brew of hate and revenge that drove another innocent Man up Calvary that first Good Friday 2,000 years ago.

Yeah, Pat. Nazis and Christ are comparable.

Buchanan is despicable.
