Exactly, there were A LOT of us railing against the DHS and the Patriot Act who saw just this type of eventuality. The wrong people getting their hands on the unlimited investigative and prosecution powers... Basically a nationalized security force and the power to pretty much do as they please.
Where are all the supporters now, they seem to have scurried away into the darkness to let someone else clean up their mess... how typical!
The neocons are pleased with Obama because he is funneling more money to the usual corporate revolving door partnerships and because he has only made slight deviations in deed (despite lots of bluster in word) from Bush's foreign policy.
