Paul Schenck for Bishop Rhoades on Notre Dame Scandal
Catholic Online ^ | 4/14/09 | Deacon Keith Fournier

To anyone who has been in the Pro-Life movement for any length of time Paul Schenck is a hero. He has stood without compromise in the trenches of the fundamental human rights issue of our age, the struggle to defend the preeminent Right to Life. In fact, he put his life, his reputation and his very liberty on the line for life. He is an iconic figure in the Pro-Life movement. The image which adorned the cover of Life magazine of a younger Paul Schenck, still a Protestant minister at the time, standing up for life is a part of the pictorial history of our movement:

...President Obama’s policies, and those of his administration, on abortion and embryonic stem cell research violate the moral law and Church teachings on the sanctity of human life and dignity of the person. Bishop Rhoades concurs with Bishop D'Arcy's statement and position on the matter. (Bishop D’Arcy is the bishop of Fort Wayne-South Bend, the diocese in which Notre Dame is located). Bishop Rhoades stands firmly with the US Catholic Bishops’ statement called “Catholics in Political Life” which unambiguously says –

“The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions”.

It is Bishop Rhoades’ hope and prayer that all the institutions that bear the name ‘Catholic’ will affirm the Church’s teachings, expose the culture of death and build up the Culture of Life.

N.D. students paying upwards of $40,000 per year to attend a school that honors baby killers! You can go to any state college for less and get the same.

I heard an American soilder say in reference to being one of the soilders who liberated Holocaust survivors say something like,
“Evil exsist’s because Good People do nothing.”

We need more good people to DO.
