We were just talking about “Till death do us part” yesterday. My husband’s cousin lost his wife the day after Thanksgiving after a long illness, he was dating by December. Her family is outraged and we just think he needed someone after having been married for 40 yrs to a strong woman and besides, he already did the “Till death do us part” thing.

I visited The Villages in Fla in March. The ratio of females to males is 10 to one. I bet if my wife passed, I could get a date at her wake.

Mourning periods vary. I bet some couples married 40 years lost some ummm relationship steam.

yes--he probably had such a wonderful marriage that being alone was not something he wanted... my husband's uncle lost his wife after 63 years of marriage... less than two years later, he was married again! he's in his eighties... and so is his new wife... we were shocked at the news, but everybody was happy for him...

Some men do that and I do not fault them. One of our friends whose wife was also very sick for years and refused to see a dr. was remarried about 6 weeks after his wife's death. There are 2 other men who were friends who did the same. I think if you have a happy marriage you want to have that again but those who did not, seem to say, no way.

BTW, I lost my husband to liver cancer in 2006 just 2 months after being told he had cancer.

Frankly, it was none of my business what they did since they did not ask my opinion! :}
